White fins for white balance

Unless you want to get the close action shots

Instead of stressing over white balance uw, use auto and fix it in post. FCP three way color correction filter works wonders.
I would suggest using a preset WB setting like daylight. With AWB, you may get some shifting colors as you pan across the scene with different light. It's easier to color correct a constant cast vs keyframing.

You like shots of your feet?

Thanks Drew for the advice on the sharks, Its that old story again about getting the sharks interested.....I really dont think it makes much difference. I work closely with sharks on a daily basis and the large white patch on my fin has never had any effect on sharks interest!!! In my experiance sharks are not interested in eating rubber, they find food by vibrations in the water and smell.

Tell that to Dinah Halstead and a few other people who had shiny bits on them. it also depends on what sharks and if they are being baited or chummed. It's not the color but bright contrast as an attractant. The late Aidan Martin of ReefQuest Shark Research confirms it.
Not only sharks but 'cudas and other fish go after shiny objects. A bright flappy thing is prime target.

Oh do tell what happened to Dinah Halstead?
I have actually had more interest from large desirable creatures from having bright yellow than white.
I had a brand new yellow octopus second stage chewed by a shark a few years back.
Silver is definatly very desirable for large marine creatures. I have seen people wear the silver avanti quatros and when they are still newish, recieve qute a bit of attention from larger creatures. Its not always a bad thing either.
But thanks Drew for the white balance suggestions. However using MWB is allways going to give better colour over using daylight or AWB.

Dinah had white knee patches on a black wetsuit... while handfeeding silvertips... DUHH.
It's not the color but the contrast I believe that brings the shark teeth too close.
MWB is better if you get it right... if you don't... well...
