You will either have to buy a Y cable or the TTL converter. The housing has two strobe ports, with one dedicated to the TTL converter and cannot be used to fire a second strobe directly.
Yes,
BUT: you'll need to mask the hotshoe adapter so that only ground and trigger are open. The camera can not deal with more than one ready or nice signal from more than one strobe.
See a previous thread on this here: http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23072
Now if you want to use TTL, then you'll need the TTL adapter AND a Y-cable. The Y-cable is wired for 5 pins to the master strobe and two pins to the "slave".

That works on the new MDX line? I was told it didn't. Thanks for the heads up!

I will admit that I have not done this with the MDX housings, but I can't see how it would not work, as in the end all you are doing is making a parallel connection of the "fire" commands across two bulkheads. This is a purely manual exercise, though. Any TTL with two strobes will require the adapter and a Y-cable.
I used two strobes and two sync cables in this manner with the DX-D200 housing.
my friend did the same thing (2 strobes, 2 cables) on the MDX-D300 housing, but she inserted a little disc she bought from backscatter, I think it cost around $5. I'll bet it did the same mask as describes above.
