  1. Keri sent me a email this morning asking if I had gotten a photo of her winning shot.

    Glad to say I did...

  3. Thanks for the photo Jeff!

Oh, and I'm definitely male (last time I checked) the name often throws people off.

About the Seacam housing... apparently seacam wanted their prize to be associated with the portfolio category, which is more 'prestigious' than the young category, I suppose.

IMHO it seems like a housing would be more useful to a young person than a trip requiring big $$ to cash in on, but I guess I see seacam's point of view.

    Thanks again,

    Keri

  4. OMG! I am so sorry for that mistake.

I have a female friend named Keri.

    Error correct

  5. Congratulations Keri,

How is your toe? Was it broken in the end or not?

  6. Thanks for the photo Jeff!

My pleasure "Sir" Keri - its a lovely shot.

Wow - I thought the Seacam would go to the Young Photographer Category.

Congratulations once again - a well deserve win.

  7. Congratulations Keri,

How is your toe? Was it broken in the end or not?

Thanks Simon...seems like you're a good luck charm for us young(er) photographers! I guess you're 2/2 for the TTL comp so far

Never saw a doctor, but still have plenty of pain, so I'm assuming it was fractured at least. That was brutal.

Still living it up in Sanur?

    Keri

  8. Well done Keri!

    Cheers

    Todd

  9. Holy Cow that is a cool shot.

is that a pygmy squid sticking to something with its bum?

That sucks about the seacam housing...... I can just imagine its ebay value..... :)

Did u end up getting the holiday?

    congrats again!

  10. Nice one Keri! How many competitions do you plan on winning this year :) .

BTW. We have some great footage of you "almost" being eaten by the ferocious Komodo Dragons.

    Take care,

    Peter

  11. With regards to the allocation of prizes...

I think that in some respects it makes more sense for the young photographer prize to be something that doesn't require $xx,xxx of extra investment in ports, import fees etc. Those of you with kids... Imagine your child winning a great prize that required a huge investment in ports and possibly a new camera to make it useable?! I'm sure that would cause a headache!

At least with a dive vacation, it's just a couple of grand on a flight!

Oh, and Peter, where are these wonderful interviews i did for you?! haha

  13. One more thing!

I'm not suggesting that Keri isn't financially independent!

But I know the young category does get some entries from talented teenagers etc who are not. Anyway, enough of my waffle. Congrats Keri.

  14. Simon:

I know what you're saying, but my point was.... Housing + eBay = +$$$ while Trip + Airfare = -$$$

If sponsors would allow their trips to be transferable (sellable), then I'd say there wouldn't be much difference. Thanks for the congrats.

    Peter:

Thanks! I'd love to get my hands on some of that Komodo dragon footage. Let me know if there's anywhere I can download it from.

    Cal:

Thank you fellow young person :) Definitely is a small squid that's stuck to something. The image frame is about 11 or 12mm. I think I am getting the trip on the SMY Ondina, yes.

Todd, Carol, and Mike: Thanks for the kind comments, they're really appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Keri

  15. "Cal:

    Thank you fellow young person"

    - Haha no worries. I have a bit of chuckle about my age sometimes. At my local underwater photography club, I'm the youngest there by nearly 2 decades.

    Once again, awesome shot!

    Cal

  16. We cshould shart the under 30's club. Hahaha. Giles is too old for that now, isn't he?

Keri... I dont think sponsors offer prizes to be sold on eBay! (Sadly, as i wanted the Seacam the year before for that exact reason!)

  17. ":Keri... I dont think sponsors offer prizes to be sold on eBay! "

    - Haha but thats why we enter the comps ! :)

My camera is worth more then my car...... that should put my cash flow in perspective lol

    Cal

  18. Congratulations Keri!! That seems like a great picture!

Just for curiousity...and envy! what age is involved in this category?

  19. Thanks, and nice shots yourself David. Congrats!

Being 24 or younger qualifies you as a "young" person, according to Scuba Diver Australasia (which worked out nicely for me, being 23...I just made the cut this year :ninja: )

My camera is worth more then my car...... that should put my cash flow in perspective lol

    I think I've got you beat, Cal. I live with my parents....don't have a car....have a crappy part-time manual-labor job.... I feel your pain my friend :):P

  20. "I think I've got you beat, Cal. I live with my parents....don't have a car....have a crappy part-time manual-labor job.... I feel your pain my friend "

Not a chance! I start full time post grad in a few weeks where I get $200 a week from the gov to cover accom, food, fuel, going out and diving.............................. One of those is going to have to be cut back, at the momment its most likely to be food :)

anyone know where the winning shots have been posted?

    Cal
