I've been diving with a housing since 1985 had my original housing overhauled in 88 and it was never the same again. Bought first Aquatica in 1991 and have owned 2 never serviced them and never had a problem.
Mind you all my housings have been cast metal and not plastic. Have a good mate of mine who is an engineer and he strips his housing down replacing o rings and farting around with his Subal and has had 3 leaks with it. He thinks I am crazy and I think he is.
Be careful about sending it in for service. I sent my D200 housing in for a full service, got it back and it flooded the first dive. totaled the camera and lens. I can't help thinking that an o ring on one of the control buttons was bad. ... (snip)
I try to take my camera housing on a "pleasure" dive after a long trip by air or having service/modification. That is, without a camera to test for leaks. I put a weight in a baggie inside the housing to maintain a resonable balance.
