There were a lot of red jellyfish about here on Ningaloo Reef over the Easter Break and I spent a bit of time with them on a number of dives shooting them against the sun. Here's four of my favourites:

Cool!
Very nice, especially like #4.
Beautiful, hard to decide between 2,3, and 4.
Those are incredible
Love the fill light

Spectacular - keep up the good work!
OMG. I'm with Cal. Those are all absolutely stunning. A photo like that was the winner at Beneath the Sea one year.
The glowing red is simply incredible....
I am drawn to the underside though, the shot with the silversides - it is a new angle....and WOW!
Loved Ningaloo when I was there in 2007 - just did not spend enough time.
loved the last 1 cheers!
Very very cool shots!!
Thanks for posting!!
Love them all but funnily i like the 2nd shot...looks kinda more flowing and creative. Thanks for sharing,
Cheers,
Diggy
Excellent images , congratulations.
My favourite is also the last one , is a winner . I'm really impressed how well your camera handled the sun ball .

I've had quite a few comments on the sunbursts I have been shooting since the start of this year. They're certainly better than anything I've shot before and I put it down to two things. First was upgrading from the 40D to the 50D. Although a lot of people were unhappy that the dynamic range of the 50D was slightly less than the 40D the advantage was all at the dark end of the range. At the bright end of the range the 50D is actually better than the 40D. The second thing was that I enabled the "Highlight Tone Priority" setting on the camera (the 40D has it too but I never used it). This setting boosts the performance at the bright end of the dynamic range (but with a loss in performance at the dark end).
Gudge; what lens, aperture, ISO and shutter speed?
"Highlight Tone Priority" !??? I will check my Nikon D300 manual to see if they have something similar .
Thanks for the input mate.

Tokina 10-17 @ 10mm, ISO 200, 1/250 for all shots and apetures in order of shots were f16, f11, f9.5 & f13.
Numbers 2 and 4 are my faves, but they're ALL excellent! Robyn
Damn Ross, these really are world class. I really like the one you posted on Flickr after these. Kinda combines the best of all of them to my eye;

Somehow I missed this thread, you really are pushing me to the 50D
