  1. ok, I guess I'll try to this topside showcase to use

I just returned from south africa. No, not for the sardine run, but for a topside wildlife safari in Kruger Park.

It was fantastic! Too bad we don't see this many animals in california. It was definitely a trip of a lifetime, and every wildlife lover should visit Africa at least once if possible.

  2. Looking good Scott. I love #4. The zebras look like miniatures next to the elephant and giraffe.

  3. Nice images, Scott.

I agree with you that we don't see this much wild life in Los Angeles, but there are some really huge squirrels on the UCLA campus. :(

My wife and I will probably follow your lead and make it to Krueger in 2010, before or after some whale shark diving in Tofo, Mozambique.

  4. Wow these are great Scott! I love the tiger cubs - wish I could have seen some when I was there. I like the adolescent elephant too.

What lens(es) did you bring on your trip?

    Cheers

    James

  5. Wow these are great Scott! I love the tiger cubs - wish I could have seen some when I was there.

Although my expertise is marine life, I'd suggest that they are lion cubs. Although I have seen a tiger in Kenya...

  6. Yep, I have to side with my British friend and say I am pretty sure they are lion cubs.

Very nice collection and a trip on my list.

    Cheers

  7. Haha, sorry, not enough coffee today...

It sounds like tigers are everywhere then! I saw one in Houston last weekend.

    Cheers

    James

  8. Fantastic pictures!

  9. Those lion cubs are just incredibly cute!

  10. everyone, thanks alot for your nice comments.

@AMW, I hope you can make it to Kruger, it's a wonderful place. everyone should visit Africa once in their lifetime if possible. Being around so many animals is an experience words can't describe.

yeah, they are lion cubs, I wish there were tigers in Kruger park also!

@James, those were taken with the d300 + 200-400mm F4, except for the chameleon (105mm macro).

I actually did a more detailed writeup of my camera equipment, how often I used each lens, etc, along with exact trip costs, logistics, crazy trip stories, etc. in case anyone is interested.

  11. Great shots. Looks like a amazing trip.

  12. Great Images Scott from such an iconic nature reserve.

Yes that image of the Lion Cubs certainly wins the cute vote and the Hyena Grimace the ugly vote. Love the Chameleon too such a beautiful colour.

    Cheers,

    Jim.

  13. Killer pics and trip report...thanks for sharing! I'm doing the sardine run next July and may have to spend a few days in Kruger....would five days allow me plenty of photo opps?

  14. @Chadbeck - thanks alot

@Sealifeprints - I'm glad you enjoyed the pics & report. Kruger is full of life, there's plenty to see every day. 5 days will be nice, just make sure you visit the game-rich areas and get out the door by 6AM

  15. Great pics Scott! Love the cubs (of course), the chameleon, and the hippo.

We did 7 days at 2 camps adjacent to Kruger after the Sardine Run this year and it was awesome. Makes for a pricey trip, but like Scott says, it is a must!

  16. Brilliant!

  17. Great images !! Must get around to going off into the bush myself sometime.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip to our country.

  18. a GOOD Safari is something every photgrapher should do.

Some cracking shots, looks like you had a great time.

If you want some C&C the mixed animals in the first batch and the zebra in the dust horizions aren't straight.

    Sorry.

    Cheers,

    Richard B.

  19. @Phil - thanks for the compliments and feedback. People can also stay in the park for 1/5 the price :)

    @Cal - thanks alot

@AndyT - yes, I enjoyed it immensely, and the South Africans we met were all very kind

@Rbaily - thanks for the nice words & feedback. Yeah, I have a hard time keeping horizon's straight, I had to start using grid lines which have helped me alot.
