Sea & Sea for the 10D

  1. where's the buttons?

the Sea and Sea housing seems to be short a few buttons along the upper right top section. there should be 4 buttons for metering mode/FEC; drive mode/iso; AF mode/WB and LCD illumination. the Subal housing clearly shows these 4 buttons along with a knob for the main dial. There appears to be only 2 buttons plus a main dial knob on the Sea and Sea.

is this just an early prototype or are they really ignoring 2 of the control bottons on the top of the camera?

    thx,

    Marty

  2. Whoa nelly! Let's not make any assumptions about the Sea and Sea 10D housing based on the few photos posted here from DEMA.

The Seacam and Ikelite housings both have "multi-function" buttons and dials that can be used to press more than one button. That could very well be the case w/ the Sea and Sea housing folks. We can't say for sure until we hear from them or get a housing to review.

It looks like they put a lot of thought into the housing design and I find it pretty unlikely that they would have left those controls off.

    Cheers

    James

  3. Sorry James, I'm just starving for information on this housing and your photos are the only ones that confirm the housing even exists B) I wish Sea & Sea would get their web site updated. Maybe you could get Andy Sallmon to get you one of their pre-production units for a few days for an in depth review?

    Hey, I can dream can't I? :D

  4. Marty - so far, it has been really difficult to get housings early from Sea & Sea for review. We have to get in line, just like everyone else. We're in with the reps there, and we usually know as much as they do. In fact, we knew about the 1Ds housing before they did, because it appeared on their web site before they were told. The same goes for Olympus. Their reps don't seem to know anything until Japan announces something publicly.
