Lembeh Trip January 2010

  1. Hi everyone,

I was at NAD Lembeh & just got back 2 days ago. I wanted to write a trip report, but I'm kinda sucks in writing so I'll just keep simple & short. :good:

I was there from the 28 Jan - 2 Feb 2010 and basically, did 11 dives during my stay, but the weather wasn't that great and visibility was kinda poor too. However, I had a great time & was playing with my DIY snoot most of time.

Overall, it was a fantastic trip and the staffs of the resort were friendly & helpful, the dive team was great & experience and not to mentioned the 2 hosts, Mike & Simon. Thanks for the great hospitality, boys.

Now, here are some of the pictures I took during the trip... Enjoy!

PS. Btw, Mike thanks for the C-Clip, without it, there won't be any pictures here. Thanks a lot. :)

  3. Nice images!

  4. Wonderful images Edvin! I really like the light on the nudi and your work with the snoot is looking great. Thanks for sharing them. :good:

    Cheers,

    Steve

  7. Always nice to see your images Ed. The snoot seems to do the trick nicely. Have you got any pictures of how it was made and the set up as I am off to NAD in a few months and looking at building something. Also what are the success rates per shot, does it take quite a bit of getting used to. I am there for 14 nights so have plenty of time to get it right, but any pointers will always be useful.

  8. Thanks for all the kind words, fellas... ^^

    Hi Stew,

I'm sorry, I don't have any pictures of my snoot & setup. Actually, I used a funnel and converted it into a snoot & I gave it to Mike already (as a token of my appreciation for his help, by giving me a c-clip for my lost one). :good:

At first, you might not get used to it but after a while it'll be ok. Just need to know the positioning and do some adjustment. I would suggest that you try it out on non moving subjects at first, just to get the hang of it and then move to slow moving subjects. Anyway, u've plenty of time and I'm sure u'll have a great time there. Maybe Mike can give u some pointers when u're there. :)

Well I am hoping for a full on course from him with the "WETPIXEL" snoot that you left there for all us Wetpixel members to use. What was the size of the end of the snoot as I am going to be trying to construct something from GRP before I go.

  10. Great snoot images Ed ... what diameter did you cut the funnel opening to ?

  11. Really like some how you did with the snoot shots, very nice stuff ....

Simon - Actually, Mike asked me to take a picture of him, UW. He needs to give it to SDAA. :P

Here are a few shots of my new DIY snoot. It's pretty much the same as the one I used in Lembeh, but the diameter is slightly smaller this time. :D
