Tim: Serge is off the island for months.. prefers to watch football in Germany
should i tell him about all the flags flying at his resort and on his boats? not one of them is German
oh Alvin.. nice pics. how that synch cord and reg work out?
haha seems the flags are all about town, even in manado.
thanks mike, haven't tried the sync cord probably keeping it as spare. the reg got me through the rest of the trip no worries.

Very nice images. You must have been very, very patient to get all those "yawning" frog-fish shots!

I'm blown away: fantastic animals, great poses, wonderful lighting.
Can you share a few technical details: lens(es), lighting? I guess that most of the images are 100mm macro, but do you use a close up lens or a diopter? How are you positioning and setting your stobes? How do you persuade so many fish to yawn at you (or do they like the smell of a Canon: they certainly didn't want to eat my Nexus last year)?
I'm particularly taken by the stargazer's mouth and the tiger shrimp, but they're all images that make me stare...

Yes i was using a 100mm for almost all the dives. This trip i was shooting at a higher f-stop than i'm used to based on a recommendation of a friend, between f20 and f29 usually. twin inon z-240 strobes, manual at power level 8 and above usually. I used 2-3 external wet lens for the smaller stuff. As for the yawning part, sometimes you get lucky to be at the right place at the right time, sometimes you get too close and they yawn as a sign for you to buzz off? or maybe they saw their reflection in the port and got angsty?
