Flood precautions...

  1. i feel silly asking this, but here it goes... has anyone put anything inside a housing to absorb water in case of a flood? i'm thinking cotton or something like... ahem... a tampon. i say this because i had a flood. it wasn't much, but enough to kill my 5D. i think a tampon or two in the housing carefully placed may have done the trick. again, i feel silly, but what do you guys think?

    Hey Matt

Well yea that may be a solution, I used to us mini-pads, so yea a tampon may work if there is room. The only thing is you have to know that the housing is leaking or it will still just fill up with water.

At the minimum I would suggest a moisture detector but the real solution is a vacuum detector. I know the cost will be more but the peace of mind knowing that your trip won't be ruined is worth it. there are several options such as a Gates Seal check or you might also have a look at this tread http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showt...=33256&st=0 as a more permanent solution.
