Hi, My Sony FX7 tape deck has jammed in the open position, and won't budge despite gentle persuasion. Tape is in loader but loader won't open and won't retract back into the main body. Any tips on how to un-jam it or does it need to go back to Sony?
Many thanks
Richard
I would call Sony, I'm sure there is a way to eject the tape. I've heard this problem before.
Is that C:32:11 error? I managed to resume my HDR-HC3 back to normal after reading a few tips on the web yesterday.
1. switch off the camera.
2. remove the battery.
3. turn the mode dial to tape recording position and wait for 15-20 seconds.
4. put the battery back.
Hi, thanks for the quick replies, the problem is that the deck will open to release the cassette but when a cassette is placed in the deck won't retract back into the body. (The part that Sony says you shouldn't push)
Kind of annoying as rest of the camera is still working fine...
Richard
Sounds like an actual mechanical prob, that's bugger. Would still call Sony though.
Hi, Thanks Jonny, calling Sony is the next step.
Cheers
Richard
Try hitting the reset button (AFTER you save your settings on the memory stick!). Then plug it into the power supply and not the battery. If you haven't been taking care to keep it dry, the mechanical bits do seize up a bit and not work.
3 1/2 years, some 1200 dives, 0 floods.
AC office.
Project service cost from Sony for flat rate = $511
AC makes it worse as the condensation from the temperature change can be invisible. Keep a dry box at about the same temp as outside is best. 45-55% humidity is optimal.
You can probably buy 2nd hand HVR-V1 now for about $1k now or even FX7 for under that.
Second hand.... Just thought about that, Hmm
Amaz*n is worth a try for that maybe....Oh, they won't deliver any electronics to Palau
Thaaaaanks
Get it off Evil Bay from a person willing to ship to you.
Pull it apart and tinker.
I got my little A1 going myself after sending it away and the tech guy could get it going.
Is there any error code displaying on the lcd screen? If it is c:32:11 it is a very common error of tape camcorders of sony and jvc, u can find many solution in the internet. I solved mine using the method stated in my last reply.
Hi all, thanks for the tips,
there isn't a code being displayed, just zero movement from the tape deck. The reset button worked as far as getting the tape out, but once closed again the motor doesn't retract the deck.....
Tinker tinker, fiddle fiddle, as Professor Bunsen would say.......
You can always break out the Birmingham screwdriver if that doesn't work
