  1. I just got home from Fiji, I had no troubles getting checked in with my carry ons, they didn't seam to notice I had any. One of our friends on the same trip had his carry on, his wife's and a couple other friends carry on on a cart an was attempting to go towards security and got stopped because a couple of his carry ons looked heavy. He was told to take his carry ons to the counter to get weighed. So they were weighed and found to weigh 17 kilos and was told he would have to check them. He opened his case and showed them it was all camera gear and wouldn't check his bag. The ticket agent agreed and let him through. I think if he would have had it on his back instead of on a cart he could have walked through without a question. Being on the cart drew attention to it. There appeared to be plenty of heavy looking bags carried on that night.

    paquito,

you are right, our plane seamed like it had seen better days and the meals were not the best but the crew seamed to be okay. I will say the plane was filthy and didn't seam like it had been cleaned in a while. The restrooms were horrid, the floors were sticky from urine and the garbage was full at the start of the flight. But the Ambien I took made it all okay...:-)

  2. For a Jul flight I called Air Pacific office in LA about special scuba allowance. My agent had told me about the $50/bag each way. I mentioned this to the office. They emailed me a c/c authorization form, returned it & received my Dive Gear Package receipt. No problem. Make extra copies - sometimes ticket counter may return yours after making copy or not. This special charge must be paid in advance, not at check-in.

If you arrive at check-in VERY EARLY seating is available in upper deck on their 747. These seats can't be booked ahead of time. Economy seating with extra leg room (like economy plus) at no extra charge.
