Sir David Attenborough does a "Shatner" for the BBC!

  1. :)

    John el :uwphotog: ,

Who is "he"? If you mean Armstrong, then maybe you didn't get to experience a live performance in a close venue as I did. For a teenage that though Buddy Holly hung the moon, I loved his performance.

Both are/were undeniably "Greats". It's a pity one strays into the territory of the other. Imagine the end of the documentary with Satchmo's rendition. Fabulous!

The BBC saved on the expense and got a tacky ending that clashed with wonderful visuals.

(For those that don't know, Richard was David's brother!)

  2. Err John... Richard still IS Dave's brother, AFAIK. Still in the living! :)

  3. It matters, because if it is done on purpose, I've got to get up to speed in terms of editing style and if it was not done on purpose, it's kind of a sloppy synchronization by whoever put the piece together...

Couldn't it simply be getting out of sync because it is playing on YouTube over the 'net?

My mistake! In August 2008 Richard Attenborough was hospitalised with heart problems, and was fitted with a pacemaker. In December 2008 he suffered a fall at his home and was admitted to St. George's Hospital in Tooting, southwest London. He went into a coma, but came out of it within a few days.

In May 2011, David Attenborough revealed that his brother Lord Attenborough was now in a wheelchair but is still capable of holding a conversation. He added, however, that "he probably won't be making any more films."

  5. Think you gotta take it for what it is... It does show how wonderful the world is.. BUT on a lighter note.. anyone notice just how camp they monkey (or baboon) was wading in the water! that made me giggle!!!  :)

  6. Nice footage. Reminds me more of Peter Sellers:

That's hilarious; surfed a few more. Sellers was brilliant

  8. Speaking of reputation, I think this might cause a hit on Sir David's reputation, more so than a cheesy video

    Faked Polar Bear Footage

Yes. this also made BBC news yesterday. Its an 'in thing' to pick up on discrepancies like this and whilst it was clearly never the intention of the film makers to 'falsify' the sequence, it gives ammunition to the miserable journalists who like to latch onto such things and scrape away at reputations. It doesn't help the film makers cause when BBC Wildlife Magazine (quite rightly) state "Captive animals: Please note, BBC Wildlife prefers to use images of wild animals in their natural habitat. Please help us by providing detailed background information and indicating if your subjects were captive, trained, rehabilitated or live-baited." when requesting photos. I can understand fully why the footage was filmed as it was and why the desire to produce an apparently seamless sequence has resulted in a sequence which has allowed for criticism, and I can't figure out an easy way to add a rider to the commentary either(as was suggested)! Perhaps when such techniques are used there should be a caveat caption within the title section at the beginning which states that sections of the program have been shot under controlled conditions in order to ensure continuity of story line? I'll bet the film makers are irritated and frustrated.

  10. I find it highly ironic when there's such furore over TV programs not depicting the truth yet we allow stupid politicians to lie to our faces all the time without any penalties. There's something wrong with that picture.

  11. Like Dr. House says: 'They all lie!!!'

  12. If I believed in conspiracy theories (which I don't because our governments are utterly incapable of keeping anything hidden away) I'd wonder if some of Sir David's more common sense opinions might have worried a few of our 'high-ups' :) .

  13. Like Dr. House says: 'They all lie!!!'

Of course, but outrage over a TV show when all sorts of BS is fed to us by the "elected" and news organizations sorta makes no sense to me. Unless it's that logic that everyone lies so we expect our last bastion of truth comes from TV docos. That is even sadder! :)
