housing choices for cp5000

  1. Yea, I don't actually use it that way much though. I would if I repeated that Komodo trip. I leave in 2 weeks for Cocos. I anticipate mostly wide angle. I will have to see how fast I use up film. If too quickly then maybe 2 cameras. If not then only one with maybe a Nikonos with 28 mm in a BC pocket.

  2. Jack,

it's in the member gallery section

  3. I think you will love Cocos. I was there about 2 years ago on the aggressor. It might be tough with a big rig like you described. The currents can be wicked. When I was there we saw it all, and wide angle is the way to go for the most part. We of course saw plenty of sharks, including whale shark. Pilot Whales, dolphins, mantas, and other rays, it was packed with action.

They had a couple of rebreathers on board and I took a class to learn how to use them but they both broke before we got there. The hammerheads are fairly shy and the rebreathers would have gotten me closer.

I had one current so strong that I couldnt pull my camera from my side to my face. I was hanging on to a rock with one hand and just didnt have the strength to take a picture. I was fun though! Enjoy the trip.

  4. Just rcved my CP5000 and waiting on housing... Having trouble understanding the hole dome port thing being an old Nikonos user. Can the 19mm dome port be added to the ike housing after purchase or has to be ordered that way. Having trouble seeing how you can add the extra length/depth of lens into the housing. Also trying to determine if the other wide angle lens (19mm) on the market will fit or just Nikon. Dont see the PN for the lens on-line as well... Please Help trying to get this thing going for a Maui trip mid August.

  5. You simply unscrew the stock port and replace with the dome port ( IKE #9306.68). It is much larger to house the lens.

I strongly suggest you buy the Nikon lens (Nikon #WC-E68). You will need an adaptor ring (Nikon# UR-E5).

  6. The Ike dome port is specifically designed for the Nikon 19mm wideangle adapter WC-E68

  7. There is a tool that fits into the holes on the flat port to unscrew it. As mentioned above the dome port for the 19 mm lens is an entirely different port than the flat port that the housing comes with. The tool either comes with the housing or the dome port . I can't remember which.
