Let's see some 12-24 lens shots
Could we see some shots with the 12-24 Nikon or Sigma lens. It would cost nearly what "the monster" rig did to get into this lens and all the extras it takes. Would like to see results before I commit.

Could be possible to see photos of the topside?
Regards,
Escalar.
Thank in advanced ![]()
again horrible turquoise sunballs in the first one , like mine, and I don t think i ts only a question of speed or aperture, since I ve uncorelated results, like eric says, depends a lot on which software you've used
i ve got the 12 24 'till yesterday ;-°° don't ask me where I am this week end .....

Really beautiful shots.
Are they at 12 or at 24? Or just in the middle? ![]()
I think after looking at these photos that this lense is very useful at topside.... it makes my decision much easier...!!!
Thanks
Escalar.
The underwater shots are all at 12. Most of the topsides shots are at 12.
Cheers
James
Topside @ about 18mm

Underwater at 24mm

Best lens I have ever slapped on the front of a camera. Paid for itself in the first week of owning it (the second image above has sold 5 or 6 times).

Stop posting all these lovely shots, guys. I really can't afford any glass at the moment and you are making me want the 12-24mm. Alex
LOL ;-))
I wish Canon would come out with something similar to the 12-24 ![]()
Sigma's 12-24 for Canon is out, right? Any examples of underwater use with that lens yet?
Hi Eric
I should not reply on this because I have not used the lens underwater yet.
Top side in comparison to my Sigma 15-30 it's noticeably less sharp, a bit less flare resistent, more vignetting (expected so and to handle it with Photoshop). I found barrel distortion is pretty good corrected for such a focal length. Overall the image quality seems to be not in class with the 12-24s for cropped sensors. It's kind of compromise to me as the lens was designed to do for full frame as well. But on full frame it's really fun and I enjoy using it. Naturally image quality on full frame degrades further with such a WA. But that's OK for me because it is the only available 12mm SLR wideangle on the market. Or did I forget one?
In spite of some image quality items I intend to house the lens soon as there is no other choice for the 10D to have 'true' wide angle. But the huge lens diameter could make using a zoom gear impossibe. Two housing manufactures (Sea&Sea and Sealux) have already confirmed to me that the lens is to big and no zoom gear could be built for it.

Julian
jonah has a zoom gear for the sigma 12-24/Canon 10D associated with the 8" dome. don't know what it would be like underwater though.

I have two shots posted here taken with the Nikon 12-24mm:
http://www.wetpixel.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic...ic-t-5470.phtml
The first two shots were with the 12-24mm. The second two were with the 60mm. Both were taken at the 12mm end but the first one was cropped quite a bit. Of course it would have been better to zoom but frankly I had my hands full.
Admittedly I'm a beginner learning a new rig and the conditions were not ideal.
Jolly, you must be speaking about the Sigma 12-24mm for your Canon? I haven't heard anyone having those complaints about the Nikon. Are you talking about it on a digital or full-frame camera? Of course the Nikon won't work at all zoom settings without vigenetting horribly on a full frame, while the Sigma does.
Here is a link to a review of the 12-24DX on Popular Photography's website:
