Canon Ef S 10-22mm - Ports?

I am shaking with excitement and can't wait to get my hands of the new Canon 10-22mm lens! I know you already have a thread about the new Canon body + lenses, but the lens will inevitably rest in the shadow of the new body in that thread and I want to obsess about the lens, the lens and only the lens!

Any word on if IKE will have a port for this lens and if so when? I am worried, ir is apparently a pretty fat lens as it takes 77mm filters...

Back to e-mailing all camera online stores to pressure them on a date when lens will be available

This lens is almost identical to the Nikon 12-24 (size, closest focus, etc) so the same ports will hopefully work. The lens may be slightly longer, but we'll see.

Barely back from Australia but noticed the Canon release of at least 5 new cameras.....Especially the EOS 20D and 2 new Ef-S lenses.

I just chatted with Ikelite on the exciting new 10-22mm lens, too. Jame's comments seem right on track as the 77mm filter size should fit Ikelite's extended dome ports with maybe a special zoom sleeve needed due to the lens's barrel diameter.

Until their Canon contact gets an actual lens to them for measuring it's a guess, though. But after using the Nikon 12-24mm DX lens in an extended dome port I'm pretty confident this will be the new great rectilinear zoom lens for Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) and especially EOS 20D shooters....

This is good news! Great to hear that Ike is already on the ball and plans are made to make port for this. Thanks for the info! Hopefully this will be on the shelf soon, because I don't know how I'll be able to wait... Anyone hear any release dates for lens and/or port, I would be MOST grateful if you posted them

Marjo, I don't think you'll have any trouble finding a port for this lens.

I'm using the 17-40L with an Ike housing, it also takes 77mm filters and actually looks pretty similar in construction to the 10-22 EF-S. The standard zoom gear works with my lens and it likely will just fit around this new lens also.

The Ike domes come in a range of lengths, so all you really need to know is the lens length and then you can select your dome.
