Stu, I am in Vernon, BC so you will have to come and ski Silver Star to see my setup! Actually the the installation is pretty well described at http://www.muenster.de/~matthias/blitz/ettle.htm. If you like I can try to post some pictures of my installation. Note that if your current housing hotshoe connecter doesnt have six wires ( mine only had five ) then you have to get a new connecter which Mattheus does supply. You then simply plug this six wire connection to the converter and from the converter you hook up three ( or four if using strobes with AF assist light) wires to your housing bulkheads. You then just have to find a small space in your housing to secure the converter. There are options for external battery connection but that seems hardly necessary given the long life of the CR2032 battery. Then there is also the option of installing an external potentiometer or switch if you want to fall back to manual strobe control but I am now very confident that that wont be necessary.
ReefRoamer, yes second curtain synch is not possible with with this converter.
Vernon! Way out in the boonies! I was hoping to get it installed before I left for my dive trip in January for the Philippines, but as I'm leaving in 3 weeks, I may wait. If you're ever out diving here on the coast let me know! There's a bunch of us here shooting the 10D in Subals.
Thanks!
Stu
I got mine shipped here ( to the boonies! ) within a week of placing the order and installation will only take a couple of hours. So you have plentyof time....
Andre, thanks for your report. Can you post an image of your installation?
Hey Andre,
I would like to see your setup, how you wired your strobes etc....
