  1. Panasonic users I will ask for your help I am new on the video world I use Panasonic gh5 25fps 100mbps 8bit manual Wb Every few meters with a gray card Olympus 8mm fisheye lens with close Aperture Between (5.6 -11)+1.5 step keldan red filter +2 x8 12000lm keldan light All the clips come out with lots of noises and grains over 10 meter depth Especially on the sides and far places it should be noted that I turned the (i dynamic range) mode to high mode and (i resolution to high)I do not know if this is what causes the noise I use at low iso no more than 800 iso and color profile vivid Does anyone know the problem?

  2. Turn boh off and color profile natural at least.

    P.S

Find any thread on GH4 configuration and copy everything

  3. Here are the general settings I've been using. Just took the GH5 and nauticam housing to Komodo. Settings will also depend on how much light you have--ambient and video lights. I used the Olympus Pro Fisheye and 12-50mm lens.

    • Color profile: Natural
    • Shutter Angle: 120 not more than 180
    • ISO: Auto is fine or manual at times
    • Aperture: Manually adjust for depth of field and light
    • Focus: Auto
    • Stabilization: On
    • Recording: 4k 60p
    • White Balance: Custom (I set two white balances on a grey slate. One with ambient light, one with video lights and switch between the two.)
    • Focus peaking: On
    • Exposure peaking: On
  4. This is most probably due to the exposure in your blacks :) Did you try to look at the waveform ? Try to keep your blacks above 10/15 ARI.

Also a footage example can be useful.

    Why?

    Google on 'Waveform explained'.

0 IRE is complete black, 15 IRE will show some detail in the blacks and less noise, especially if you lift things up in post processing. But GH5 footage is prone to noise, keep the ISO as low and the shutter speed as long as possible if you want to avoid it.

  8. My shutter speed is 180 I'll try to shoot at 120

At 25 fps you need to shoot 1/50

Noise is not an issue, signal is. When the footage looks grainy is because SNR drops. Signal (i.e. light) missing shows grain

  10. Guys,

Regarding op question, shooting at 180 or 120 doesn't make any difference except being nominated for a Grammy award:)

    Please stick to these settings:

90% of Panasonic setting are the same since GH2.

As I told you you are using completely wrong settings.

    Bye

    Did he mean 1/180 s or 180°?

Anyway, I find a longer shutterspeed in bad lighting conditions more important than the 180° rule. Especialy under water with slow movements, I prefer to go 360° when shooting in 60p. 1/60s is short enough in those conditions.
In 30 p, I will use 180 or 270, depending on light conditions.

To Eransalah, read about this stuff so you understand what you are doing, or you will depend on other peoples 'rules' to setup your camera.

Shutter angle is an antiquated concept to be honest. Shutter speed is much easier to work out for exposure especially for 25 fps where is an exact multiple

Indeed, I never use the angles, only the speeds. My photography background I guess. But in this post 120 and 180 are used in two different ways. That's why it's possible it is confusing to the TS.
