Digital camera abuse on the Shearwater

  1. It was amazing to see 10's of thousands of dollars worth of digital cameras treated with such disdain. Gotta' get the shot!

These scenes were often repeated during the week. I was just as bad, I just didn't photography myself.

  2. After last week, these shots make me feel much better!!

Still trying to clean my camera up after "attempting" to take a few shots to show the conditions that caused us to have to "head for home"!

It is nice to know I am not the only one that "forgets" about the gear in an attempt to get a shot! :)

  3. Great shot Richard.....splat!!

  4. I more concerned about the hogfish. He doesn't look to happy!

  5. Hmm if they can afford those set ups they can afford 2!

Sort of hoping you would have a photo of someone having theur system attacked by a Tiger...

  6. Thanks Larry!

I really will put the camera in the damn housing next time I try that!

btw, did you just get the "H", or has that been there for a while? Are you planning on housing it?

  7. I bought my D2H back in December, just after the price drop. A hell of a camera for $1995. Despite the limitation of 4 meg I find the image quality to be superb.

My tentative plan is to get the Aquatica D2 housing when it becomes available and migrate from the S2 to the D2X and use the D2H as my topside/backup body. It's a big plus that both the D2X and D2H share the almost exact same body.

  8. I'm amazed that no one lost a camera to shark splashes. We all had to run inside to wipe off cameras every few passes. :)

Here's my camera being hit by a tiger shark: (photo: Marty Steinberg)

James had his Seacam dome hood scratched by a tiger shark tooth, and his Aquatica/Ike dome seriously scratched up by shark skin. :(

    Here's a shot I got:

  9. WOW!!! Talk about up close and personal! Brilliant.

  10. While Eric and James were the shark cuddling masters for the trip, Gadi and I also received unexpected shark company on the swim step. Here's a shot I got moments before this little guy ended up in my lap. The next shot in sequence is of the sky as we backpeddled off the step quicker then we thought was possible ;-)

All in all, it was great fun!

  11. Nice, Marty! :)

The swim step was banging against the water pretty hard on one of the days. And when the sharks come in, all hell breaks loose:

  12. Actually, that D70 is encased in EWA-Marine's newest housing bag, the "D-Stealth 70". It is completely transparent - doesn't even show up in most photos. I'm sure you don't think I'd actually expose a camera to salt water.....
