I have the Nikon D70 in the Ikelite housing, can I use the SB800 Nikon flash into the Subal housing in iTTL? I'll use the Ikelite/nikonos conector from Ikelite...
Thanks to everybody...

I don't believe all of the pins from the camera's hotshoe are connected thru the bulkhead on the "regular" Ikelite D70 housing. So no, the flash probably won't work in iTTL unless you get your housing specially wired by Ikelite.
Of course if you do that, then other amphipbious flashes won't work with your setup, only iTTL compatible flashes, ie the SB800 and SB600. You'd need to get a special sync cord to use amphibious flashes.

Thanks JAmes, I was thinking the same.... So to work in iTTL I must send tha housing to Ikelite..... I'll continue working in manual this summer.... ![]()
As I understand it, if Ikelite rewire the bulk head for all 5 pins, you should still be able to use other strobes as Ikelite sync cord is only wired with 2 pins anyhow. The tricky part would be whether Ikelite can supply sync cord with all 5 wires connected as well.
I think that the D70 is more forgiving than the D100 regarding non DX strobes and with 5 wires connected will still fire non DX strobes as well as the SB800.
Alternatively get the housing wired up for Ikelite iTTL. Then you can have TTL with a DS 125.

Yes Alex I know it, but I must send the housing and the DS125 (is a older.... very older model) to the USA.... from Spain.... too much summer time without it!
Seems like you would need Ikelite #4103.51 sync cord which is 5-conductor, then someone would need to remove one end and install whatever is required for Subal housing. Other alternative is install Ikelite bulkhead on Subal housing and use standard Ikelite cord............
Thanks to all!
Ike the Subal housing have nikonos conectors (I think so...) Will the #4115.31 (Ikelite SRL / nikonos) works in iTTL?
Yes! I did not know the Subal strobe housing had a Nikonos bulkhead. #4115.31 should be a fine solution. It is five-conductor sync cord with Nikonos plug on one end and Ikelite on the other.
That said, an underwater strobe is the better choice. You must also address inside wiring if it is an Ikelite housing for D-70 as only sync circuit is connected from bulkhead to camera.
Actually, NO! ![]()
Depends which Nikonos end you are referring to. The Subal housing comes with a Nikonos housing plug on the strobe, not a nikonos strobe fitting.
The 4104.6 cord would fit both fittings, but would be backwards, with the Nikonos plug connecting to the strobe, and the ikelite plug to the housing....
I don't know if Ikelite installs any magic in these cords that would mess up communication, though. The custom cord I once had him build with a Nikonos housing connector on each end was wired straight through on all five pins, with no resistors anywhere.
You must also address inside wiring if it is an Ikelite housing for D-70 as only sync circuit is connected from bulkhead to camera.
So I must change the cable inside the housing?
Just my 2 cents worth: I'm not real good with the technical stuff about pins and wiring, but I'm using a D70 in an Aquatica housing with an SB800 in a Subal strobe housing. For close-up and macro, it works very well. My iTTL exposures are dead-on.

One more question Ike:
Tha cable inside the housing for the D70 have 3 or 5 pins conected?
Except for a few special order housings, standard D70 housing has only two wires connected inside the housing. Third wire would be ready light, but camera gets very unhappy if you are not connecting a Nikon iTTL strobe and can lock up so we only attach sync circuit at present.
(Our new iTTL housings will start shipping next week, but will need most of June to fill all of the orders)

HOORAY!
Any test shots yet? Has David Haas had a chance to get one under?
Hello Ike,
Does your new iTTL circuitry include support for the Nikon D2X ?
