Subal housing Canon 20D

  1. Hello,

I am looking advice for setting up a Canon 20D in a Subal housing.

I think subal housing comes with 2 handles and 2 flash plugs (nikonos V) by default ?

I have 2 subtronic flash : does it sounds good ?

Ok now for the port. :D

I would like to use the EFS10-22 : I was ask to use the DP-FE2 + EXR50 + ring 4ZC065 (to use the zoom ring I presume).

Does its seems ok ? Does it comes with a sunhood and also with a protective piece of neopren not to scratch it on the boat :D ?

Now for the macro port :

I have the EF 100 macro (the 'new' one which doesn't extend) and also have the Sigma 50macro (which extends :( )

I would like to have (if possible) a port that does the 2. I made it with my UK-Germany housing with film so think it should be possible no ?

One thing about that : I would like to have the focus ring to work on my 100 (because sometime it's tricky). Can this be achieved without a knob on the port... just with a ring ?

thanks a lot for helping :D

I use the 20D in the Subal housing along with both the Sigma 50 EX DG macro and the Canon 100 mm (non-extending) USM macro. The FP-90 flat port works well for the Sigma 50. Adding a 15 mm extension ring just accomodates the Canon 100. If I wanted to add a filter or diopter to the 100 mm I would need a deeper extension.

I have not felt the need for manual focus. As long as I am using a focus light the lens does not hunt. If I want to adjust focus a bit I move the camera a millimeter or two forward or back. This is easier to me than reaching my hand around to the focus knob.

For wide-angle shots I use the Canon 15 mm FE behind an FE2 port with no extensions so I can't help you with the 10-22 mm zoom. I bought my FE2 off ebay. It did have a sunhood but not a neoprene cover. I bought the cover at Backscatter.

Also, my Subal housing shipped from Austria with 2 handles and two Nikonos-style 5-pin sockets. I believe this is standard.

  3. Thank for your answer Brad !

The trick with the extension ring on the macro port is just what I was looking for !

How looks 15mm fisheye pictures on the 1.6x cropped sensor ?

How wide does it looks ? Have you got picture ?

    Thanks for your help

    Regards

Heres one I submitted for this past Saturday's Monterey Beach Dive Photo Competition, Diver category. This shot did not win but I like it better than my shot that did win.

It's been downsized and cropped a bit on the bottom to take it from 480x720 to 480x640. The width and the top portion are not cropped.
