color matching ?????

  1. any idea how to match color between what u see and what u get from the printer, without any tools?

I'm using canon ip8500 and the print out is not as accurate as the monitor....

this issue has been buggin me for long time ....

    thanks for the help...!

  2. Here's how it's SUPPOSED to work:

Calibrate your monitor buy buying a calibrator, software, and using it.

Install your printer and make sure you have the correct profile for the printer, ink and paper you are using.

In whatever program you are using, you "proof" the image and the photo program will apply the printer profile. It will show that the image actually isn't as bright and smooth as you thought it was going to be...:-) But the colors will be matched to what will come out if you hit "print." If you don't like what you see, make adjustments and proof it again, etc.

    Cheers

    James

Sorry mate, no tools pretty much means no color match. You really need some sort of calibrater like James has mentioned. There is no quick fix that is reliable.

  4. I've had great success calibrating my monitor using a Spyder 2.

I print from Adobe Photoshop CS2 using the Print Image Matching ICC profiles that came with my Epson 1280 printer.

When printing on Epson Premium Glossy Photo paper, I get results that match my monitor perfectly.
