10 posts
  1. For my new Nikon10.5 or 16mm Lens (I havent buy it will first make some tests)

    the are exisitng bajionett Filters

Is there anything that we must think if we order a Dome Port?

Will the size off the filter be a problem?

love my URPro SW-CY filter .

I have one 67mm and I love to use it but no way with the Nikon10.5 or 16mm Lens .

Alex i his review have fix the URPro SW-CY filter with some tape??!!

Maybe thats the way to go untill Alex Magic filter will be available (Alex do you lisen!!)

Anyway.. about Ports - is there someting that i miss?

  2. Glass sandwich and resin filters won't physically fit on SLR fisheye lenses. You have to use gels. The gels slot in the back of the 10.5mm or inside the detactable bayonet filter on the back of the 16mm. This is my motivation for making the Magic Filter. There is nothing out there that works and nobody wants to shoot available light without the widest lens possible.

Hopefully the Magic will be available before you get your camera. And I'll send you one straight away!

    Alex

p.s. I still owe you for those gels!

  3. ....And I'll send you one straight away..

    Alex you make my day:-)

But if i havent not the filter in time can I do it lik you?

Tape my URPro SW-CY filter on the top on the Lens? If not I will sale this.

BTW The URPRO SW CY filter have a 1-F/stop light loss. Is it under water the same? Do I need expose compensation?

  4. For about 50 bucks, you can get a couple 75cm by 75cm gels, as Alex notes. I'm still experimenting (hope to do better on my upcoming trip!) but deeper than a few meters it seems to me -- so far -- that a pretty extreme filter combo does does best -- like a CC40 or 50magenta + an 85. This costs a lot of light, though. The camera should correct the exporsure fine. Rather than a grey/white card, I just use auto white balance and edit the raw as needed. Craig Jones has a good article in the archives, and there's been a great thread.

Too bad they didn't use the same bayonet on the 10.5 as the 14/16 ... woulda made life easier.

  5. Lambis - if you use the camera's meter to determine the exposure, which I am sure that you do - there is no need to exposure compensate.

We have not confirmed the price yet. But we intend to make the Magic filter inexpensive - it will be cheaper and far more durable than a single Kodak Gel (while stocks last). The police should use gels on crime scenes given their propensity for attracting fingerprints!

  6. Thanks Guys

In 4 weeks I am going to Greece and there I will need a filter

I will try to Tape my URPro SW-CY filter on the top on the Lens untill the Magic filter arive

P.S. Still not decide about housing :-) But Hugy is very near to will the race

  7. Geez Lambis - and here was I thinking you'd settled on the Subal! :D

  8. anthp:-)

Me to was thinking i will go with Subal but hier in Europe tehy are wayyyyyy to expensive.

On the other side I find that other companies make kick ass housings to.

Then they are prices. You know that a Ikelite housing cost the same like a Sealux in Europe ???

anyway there is Hygyfot, Nexus Aquatica and Sealux in the Game

You can read what i found out att:

    some conclussions

  9. Lambis, I'm pretty sure you can get away with taping the filter on the 16mm but not on the 10.5, the 10.5 is designed for DX sensor and all of the front surface is needed for the DX sensor, the 16mm is made to cover a 35mm image circle so the front surface is not completely used, anyway see the drawing.

BTW the 10.5 and 14mm use gel filter, the 16mm and 15mm use bayonet filter and those have a built in diopter and must be on the lens to be used.

  10. Thanks Jean

Great to learn that its work. Anyway my first Lens will be a Nikon 16mm or Sigma 15mm so I wll try it and see.

BTW I send you a PM. some Aquatica questions
