Ok, maybe it is not as good as sardine run , but it was fun. It was today during our surface interval, after diving the spiegel grove I decided to go for a snorkel and found this school of bait fish. There was all kinds of big fish feeding on it, too bad I was free diving to about 25ft. That meant only 4 pictures at a time...
And this is my favourite, from inside the school...
Nice shots Luiz

I enjoyed your shot from inside the school - looks like a frenzy, but I can feel the movement in the shot with the model swimming through the school - that is my personal favourite. Also, the symmetry with the reef on either side and then the crescent of bait is appealing. Were you using a strobe, or just available light?
Definately worth going for a snorkel between dives eh!
Also, the actually viz looks better than most of the shots I've seen from the Run!
Well done.
I too like the pic with the model the best. On a side note, wouldn't freediving after a dive have potentially bad side-effects due to pressure changes while off-gasing?
I absolutely love the 3rd picture of the freediver in the school.
On my monitor it seems a bit over saturated in the blues though. Is this a D2X thing ? To be fair though my monitor isn't calibrated.

Thanks for the comments guys.

You maybe right, my monitor isn't calibrated either, it looks ok to me, I will try to take some of the blue out. I don't think it is a D2x thing, I suck at post-processing <_< .
I find that the D2X blues often look over saturated when I quickly grab the JPGs (Shot in Adobe RGB (1998) and mode III most saturated) and make web images from them.
Its not a problem with the RAW files. It is also not a problem if you are use to seeing saturated slide films (like Velvia 50 and Ektachrome VS or EBS) - which I guess this mode is supposed to replicate.
I think Luiz's shots of the Spiegel Grove show it more. These look a bit purpley water too me - more from too much Auto-levels in photoshop.
Alex
I agree witk the purplish blue, but #3 is still an excellent shot. Too bad you can't see the models face.
Oops, here i was thinking he had a bleach/fixer problem in E6, forgot he had gone on to the D2X (that will teach me to not read in the future...)
Cool shots Luiz, and i know what you mean by sucking at post, i do too!
#$%$&$^# computers....
Btw: Freediving during surface interval? I thought that that is almost the quickest way to get the bends.
(CO from the first dive will be absorbed in the blood at 25ft and form bubbles during your extreme fast ascend)
Any thoughts about this?
Basically, the nitrogen you've loaded into your system from the first dive can be pressurized into solution when you free dive during the surface interval. During your free dive bottom time, that nitrogen is traveling through your system. When you finally ascend from the free dive, the nitrogen can come out of solution somewhere in your body that is "not good". This is also the reason why "bounce" diving (fetch a buddy's lost mask, etc.) shortly after doing a dive is a bad thing.
I did a quick search and found this thread on deeperblue.net:
Guess I will have to sit on the boat between dives from now on...
I have been processing the raw files on my PC and they look different, I will post another version of the photo when it is done (I am still learning photoshop and nikon capture <_< ).
