Nikon D200 imminent

  1. I went to the Photo Plus Expo in NYC because we got a tip :) that the D200 would be announced there. Needless to say that did not happen! The latest buzz is that the Nikon sales staff is being called in for a meeting on November 7th. Perhaps this is it! :(

  2. Apparently something is happening on 1 November. :)

  3. In a french mag (last week edition) it was said that they will officialy present it next month... for sure !

    Latest technical data are : 10,4 Mpx - ISO 100 à 1600 - 1.5x - 5 fps - 30s to 1/8000s - flash sync 1/500sec - 11 area MultiCAM1400 AF (not the same as the D2/F6) !

    I hope it's true...

  4. flash sync 1/500sec

If that is the case then flash synch will be most probably possible at all speeds (unofficially - like the D70), because it means it will be using an electronic shutter at higher shutter speeds.

  5. There will be as well a new Nikkor 10-24/f2.8 AF-S ED DX (to replace the 12-24) and a 16-70/f4 AF-S ED VR DX!

If this all is true I'll have an other information! Let's wait... and see... B)

  6. Would that 16-70 focus to 1:1 macro at the 70mm focal length?

  7. Would that 16-70 focus to 1:1 macro at the 70mm focal length?

I really don't think this lens (if real) will be 1:1 on any length, but if this is the case I will get one for sure! Also, Nikon already has 3 DX lenses in this general focal length (18-70, 18-55 and 17-55), I don't see much reason for another one. A fast 10-2X (twenty something) would be sweet.

  8. I don't expect one. It's just been my dream lens since I started UW photography.

  9. All right, for those waiting and waiting, hold your breath, the announcement is very close. The name D200 is starting to appear in official Nikon pages, here is the link for a Nikon page in Sweden for a yet-to-be-released update of Picture Project:

It is not in English, but anybody can tell that the major upgrade for version 1.61 is to add support to D200 NEF files.

  10. Damm right it's not english, phew! I broke a sweat just reading the title :)

  11. How many languages do you speak Luiz! Thanks for the link btw.

Not Swedish! :) A friend of mine (who is really anxious) sent me the link...

I translated it and what it really means is that you can take two D100 exposures and COMBINE them together for a 'D200' file. They apologized for the confusion :)

  14. Oh ripped off!

I still think it's not far off though (wishful thinking) :)

  15. :)

    LOL!

    I was kidding Anthony...

You'll all get your camera sooner or later...but probably later :(

  16. Maybe its the real thing this time, the Nikon's site give it some reliability.

  17. I can't judge much from those pictures (and the link doesn't work so I had to find them on DPReview). But it looks like this camera has D2/F6 AF. LCD looks big and viewfinder small.

I hope that Nikon has learned from the past and has planned a short and reliable time between announcement and deliveries. But then while I am wishing, I'd like to walk downstairs and find a Porsche Cayman waiting for me...
