August 19, World Photography Day

On this day in 1839 Arago made the presentation to the French Academies des Sciences and Beaux Arts, which described Nicephore Niepce & Jacques Daguerre's photographic process. The French government bought the process and offered its free use to the world.

And here we are, 166 years later discussing how many megapixels our next camera is going to have...

So the French invented both Scuba diving AND photography ?
