  1. Hi,

These are some of my favourite pictures that I’ve taken with my new Subtronic Gamma flash. It’s a BIG upgrade compared to the S&S YS-120 that I used before.

I hope you like them and please comment. God or bad I want them... ;-)

  3. Very nice shots, I agree with Karl, the best I've seen with the 18-70. Great composition and color.

  4. i agree, great shots. So i also have the 120s. When you say big diff what do you mean? More power? Wider angle? the ability to stop down more to control sunburst and still get enough light on main subject?

And just how big are those anthias?? Big!

  5. Pedda: Are you shooting Raw?

If yes Iwould suggest to correct the WB of the two shots with the diver. The colors here look very fake. Maybe you also overfiltered the in PS. Har to say without knowing what you did exactly. The Fishes should look more like the fishes in the last two pictures

    Otherwise: Great Pics!

  6. GREAT !!

I like your photos very much I am a very beginner but I think your photos are great

  7. The images are not loading for me. All it says is "User Posted Image."

This means that Pedda's photo server is not letting me load the photos.

    Cheers

  9. I really like the first one. Some of the others look over cooked to me, but it could be my new glasses ;)

You have good, even lighting and your composition is good too. Some of the blue looks unreal, but I have some pics that, directly from the camers, look fake and I didn't touch a thing, I swear.

    Excellent work.

  10. Thanks for your nice comments.

    Hi Mike,

The Gamma for sure has more power that the Ys-120. I seldom us the Gamma at full power (270 watts) and its coverage is better as well. Gamma has 112x112 degrees while the 120 has 105x105 degrees. I also like that it has a cooler colour temperature 4300 Kelvin compared to the 120s 5100 Kelvin. It recharges much faster so I have no problem to use my D70 in continuous shooting mode. Gamma has six power settings while 120 have two. I have no problem with the battery capacity and I have no problem to use it for three dives without charging and I take around 60-80 pictures each dive.

The negative part of the story is that it's heavier to transport and neither Ikelite nor Subtronic makes a cable to connect them together. My cable is made by Mike-Dive. And if you buy it new it more expensive than the YS-120.

The Anthias on the pictures are around 6-8 cm long

    Regards

    Peter
