Ultralight and Seacam

  1. Does anyone know what Ultralight piece (if any) will screw into the top center hole (on the "forehead") of a Seacam housing (e.g., to attach a modeling light)?

  2. Yep, it's a BA with a quarter 20 thread. I got one from Terry at ULCS

    Cheers

  3. The thread size is 8mm, not 1/4-20. Use part number BA-8mm, and specify that you need it w/ a glued in stud, not a bolt.

  4. Thanks Ryan - darned metric system. Well that explains why I'm having so much trouble mounting it on my tripod...

Thanks! I'm planning to use the Fantasea 44-LED modeling light, and this is a pretty simple way to mount it.

    Accordingly, I just ordered:

    - BA-8mm with glued-in stud (screws into top of housing) as a base for the Seacam housing

    - AD-SS (connects to Fantasea 44-LED light bracket)

    - AC-CS clamp (to connect the above two)

BTW, I also ordered a BA-HB (1/4-20 with bolt & lockwasher), which apparently serves the equivalent role as a base for Aquatica housings.

As usual, I found the Ultralight folks wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful!

I also need to connect the Fantasea LED light.

Found this picture in ULC site, Which one is the AD-SS that fit?

  7. Either round ended one will work fine.

I tried to put the ULCS adapter (part #AD-8mm) to the top hole of my Seacam 1Ds housing, it doesn't fit. But the same AD-8mm adapter fits the bottom hole (tripod mount) of my housing.

Am I getting the wrong ULCS adapter or my housing has some manufacturing errors??

It's not the AD-8mm you need; it's the BA-8mm with glued-in stud/screw. That's what I got, and it screws into the top hole perfectly. Assuming there isn't any difference in the hole for your Seacam 1Ds housing vs my 1Ds MkII housing, I think you just ordered the wrong part #.

  10. I got another ULCS 8mm adapter from another retailer. it fits perfectly. probably there was something wrong with my first one.
