aquabluedreams Posted January 4 Posted January 4 My wife's current video rig is; Gates, Canon GF50, 2x 6000 video lights. While an enthusiastic shooter and lover of macro wide angle is secondary for her. She will never white balance nor adjust settings while diving. Is there a 58mm filter that she can use when committing to WA at typical >60ft depths? Happy to do some correction in post with FCPX. Thanks! 1
aquabluedreams Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 Sorry, I'm an idiot! The Gates housing has an internal "flip down" red filter, lol. 3
bghazzal Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) Gates housings typically used acrylic UR-Pro Cyan or Magenta filters, which are no longer manufactured but can still be found online (certain diameters at least). A good alternative for video - but not really similar as it is aiming for accurate colours rather than an aesthetically pleasing colour balance like the UR-Pro (or, to a certain extent, Canon colour balance...) would be the Keldan Spectrum filters, or certain Lee/Rosco gel alternatives Here's a thread on the subject: Keep in mind that shooting with a filter and lights will generate a light source unbalance (the "mixed light problem") which can be resolved with ambient (cooling) filters on the lights, but using these on 6000 lumen lights will halve transmission, turning them into 3000 lumen lights, so not really useful for anything else than closeups Edited January 5 by bghazzal
