  1. thanks so much for all the excellent information! I always knew I would never get any serious cash for my uw rig, so I'm not disappointed at all - I've gotten many happy dives with it. @dhaas The EOL info definitely adds weight to the changing over sooner column; I didn't know that was happening. My plan was keeping my EFS 60mm and some of my other glass - at least for the short term - and switch to one of the new Canon Rs with nauticam since I have so much glass & bits for Nauticam, but you're saying to maybe sell it off and get new glass? I'll be back in the US in April so maybe could use some of the links you provided, thanks! I've never been a switch or chase the latest & greatest (clearly!), I just stick with what entertains me 'til it dies. I live in an area that lets me dive most days so thankfully if I do switch, it's not like I can only use it twice a year! @TimG I don't think I'd ever reach the limit of what the 7dmkii can do (except video) 🙃 But updated AF and better video and others bits would be nice, too. now it's so old and won't even be supported soon maybe it's time to step to a new system. but yeah, dropping 10 grand doesn't make me that excited either 🤣 not sure I'm any closer to making a real decision on what to do next, but I really appreciate the thoughts and suggestions for options!
  2. I'm really hoping for some insight to if there is a market to sell the 7dmkii camera/housing or if that's just not something potentially on the table. Then it becomes is it worth it to bother with a grand or so for service or just wait it out til I buy something new. I'm happy with the baby set up until I'm not (backgrounds are so mushy/ugly if you don't make it stop down as much as it can) and battery life for video is dismal...so I do like to have a Big Rig option, too!
  3. I've been to both and you can't go too wrong with either. I have plans to go back and I will head to Buceo Anilao. The staff were outstanding.
  4. I'm at the stage where I'm trying to figure out what to do with my fabulous Canon 7dmkii/Nauticam system. I'm considering selling it but not sure if there's any market/value at all? I am not on FB so don't have access to things like the marketplace or specific uw photography sales pages. Both camera and housing are due for a service - a nice chunk of change. Maybe better to just forget it altogether and continue on my journey towards a more updated system? I'm currently using the baby Oly TG7 setup and enjoy it 90% of the time, but do find myself frustrated now and again so I need to bite the bullet and get my existing gear sorted (about a two month wait, I'm told) or buy something new (probably a longer wait because I still can't make a decision and obviously way more upfront expense). What's everyone's thoughts? Photo just because it's more interesting :)

yes, a photo please because I couldn't create the problem today and can't figure out why or how it's happening!

Turn it the other way? If it's really annoying you might need to change hoses (longer or shorter) or add a swivel? I shoot verticals in both the trigger up and trigger down positions and don't really think this is an issue for me, but now I'm going to pay more attention tomorrow 🤣
  7. @Chris Ross it's pretty quick. Less than a couple minutes. yes it's the push button valve. I'll remove it and try again.
  8. Recently had an issue with my vacuum valve not working so have replaced it. Sadly, it's still not holding a green light so seems the problem was greater than that single issue. I can't see anything obvious so was hoping for some guidance on trouble shooting it to see if i can find the issue and fix it myself. Any ideas?
  9. I'm hoping someone here can help me with a Meta issue. Beyond what I can figure out with googling or basic trouble-shooting. I woke up this morning to find my account has been suspended. the "appeals" thing is a joke. If someone is savvy in the way of the algorithm please reach out. At this stage I'd prefer to do it privately via messages etc. thank you :)
  10. Have you talked to your wife about what each of you wants from a dive? There's no reason you must dive together if your objectives for enjoyment are vastly different. Do your own things without feeling pressure or pressuring the other person then enjoy chatting about your separate dives over dinner etc. Hire your own guide/guides where you can then you can maximize your time underwater. If you choose to dive with a group, make sure that everyone knows the whole plan. It's not fair to just do your own thing if you haven't explicitly explained what that means; other people may be stressed out or not getting the dive they want because they are wondering where you are or if they should check on you. On my local dives with friends, we still discuss what our plan will be for each dive. Often that's pretty basic "see you in 90 minutes". Communication - "plan the dive and dive the plan" trite but true. If you're going to solo dive or same ocean, same day dive, make sure you have a plan for when things go wrong, that you have the gear you need and that you have the experience/training to do it as safely as possible. I am definitely not a group project type diver so I try to avoid those kinds of dives altogether and choose my destinations/operators by what fit my needs. When I can't (very rare coz I try to sort all this before I sign up), I make sure to talk to the guide and come to whatever arrangement we can make work so that everyone is on the same page, safe and respectful.
  11. If you want something to use now, get it. I'm not that great at waiting so I'd rather have something that works fine right now and if something enormously better comes along, add/change later. I use both the Insta360 X4 and the AcePro 2 while diving (not at the same time) and enjoy each of them. This is with the Ace Pro 2 the other day...
  12. Thank you, Everyone! Really appreciate the suggestions and information. At this stage, I've done all I can do with it so looks like I'll be needing to replace it. There's definitely something wrong in there 🙃 Also talked with Reef and they've explained how to use it without the vacuum until the new part arrives, so there are options.
  13. thank you so much!! i will definitely use this info. photos would be great - thank you!
  14. @Luko - that sounds like the one I have! I'll try to find a no name one. Do you remember where you got yours? I can't get any light change now after doing what I could to it and reinstalling. @Davide DB sorry, I thought I had answered that! Yes, there was never a problem removing the back. The problem is getting a vacuum seal. I can hear air escaping the valve sometimes even after taking it out and reinstalling. I'm wondering if somehow I am not putting it back together again properly...
  15. No, it isn't the battery, which I have changed already. The vacuum seal is not working. Have just pulled it out and tried to see if anything is obvious. If anyone has pulled theirs apart to see the spring and little foot, it would be great to hear from you as it seems that this has to be the issue somehow - there's really nothing else that can go wrong. I can't find a detailed parts diagram or instructions on how to fix this online at all.
