About Me:
Through photography I combine art with science. Photography has been my primary creative outlet since a teenager when I began developing film and making prints in the darkroom. My education culminated in 1991 when I received a Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Underwater photography augmented my dissertation research on salmon ecology. I have spent much of the recent decades expanding on this by developing techniques to capture various aspects of salmon ecology and behavior.
