  1. hi everyone,

i'm about to buy my first waterhousing. i am just wondering what warranties come with it. does the manufacturer of the housing include your damaged camera in the warranty when the housing that you got is defective? i can find anything mentioned in B&H when you buy one from them.

what will a replacement of a defective housing for when your camera has been damaged with water already. has anyone had any experience claiming a warranty for their equipment? thanks in advance to all. :P

  2. Usually their is no insurance for nothing, you have to insurance your equipment, see the Official Insurance Thread for more data about it.

The only insurance that come with the housing that I know about it (maybe there is more that I not aware of them) is Fantasea that sell the housing with one year insurance.

  3. oh, i thought that a waterhousing manufacturer have some sort of warranty to their product from being defective. and when it is defective i thought they should also include in the warranty the damaged camera inside the housing.

  4. The vast majority of floods are not related to equipment defects. It's usually sand, hair , a tear on the oring, or simply forgetting to seal something properly. (Check out this thread on floods) If you flood an expensive camera you don't want to be in the position of trying to cover your loss by convincing someone that is was the equipment and not your fault.

A couple of truisms for you:

    1) When you have a flood, it will most likely be your fault.

    2) If you take something underwater, it will eventually get wet.

If you don't want the potential loss, you will need to get insurance.
