Housing for Sony HDR-HC3 (HDV)

  1. Hi

I am looking at buying a Sony HC3 and love the look of that Fisheye/Seatool housing...

I realise that it's a Japanese company, but does anyone know of any UK based resellers/importers? I’ve had a search on this site and through Google, but there doesn’t seem to be much info about them.

If not, are there any good/competitively priced shops for Gates housings? I can only really find the Cameras Underwater site.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sass

since you're in the UK, it's best you contact the manufacturers direct for dealers in the EU.

Alternatively, you can buy from a US source who may or may not ship overseas. Check with Ryan who posted the pics of the housing several posts before.

  3. Has anyone been using the HC3 in a Gates housing? I'm curious to see how you like it.

  4. I have a Sony HC3 and am looking for a housing so I can capture some of the majic that we have in the waters off Western Australia ;)

I would specificaly like to ask if anyone has used the Ocean Images housing that is specifically designed for the HC3? if so what experiences have you had with the mechanical control for WB whilst UW?

If anyone else is using another housing (Gates/ilke etc) with this camera model, I would be really interested in your experiences and/or recmmendations.

    Cheers from West Oz

  5. I have a Sony HC3 and a seatool HC3 housing. I think it is a great system although the image I see from the side mirror leaves something to be desired. I also wonder if the electronics in the handle of this housing would be damaged by an o-ring failure of the housing? If so, such a flood would be expensive condidering the housing is nearly twice the cost of the camera. There apears to be no technical support for this housing in the US beyond what the sales organization can provide. Any thoughts? I have begun to experiment with the mechanical White Balance adjustment on this housing. First, it is very difficult for me to see the WB setting with the side mirror, and of course, in real time while diving you can not really see the affect of a change in setting (if you can see the setting on the screen), so you would have to learn from experience which setting fits your underwater situation.
