I used to shoot film and shove it into a bag after each dive. In between dives I rested, and chewed the fat. Then when I got home it was processed while I had a nice lunch. I picked out the shots and they went off for scanning. The next time I saw them they were printed.
Then some clot suggested I went digital.
Now after each dive, I am stuck in my cabin downloading and making back-ups in to USB drives. When I get home I have to burn my RAW files on to archival quality CDs. Then I have to convert and adjust each RAW file that I choose to select. After that I work into the night doing a bit of retouching.
I now find myself doing the job of the film processor, the film scanner and the retoucher.
Digital photography means a lot more work for me and then the art edotor has the opportunity to foul it up by making his own adjustments in Photoshop. It may save a lot of money for the publisher but Who has been had?
