  1. Mate, You could be filming with a Hi8 and capture a rare moment, like dolphins mugging a tigger shark, Whales riding uni-cycles, Mike Veitch buying a round of drinks, Wags whispering his hatred of Edius/Amphibico to a L&M rep or even Drew admitting he gets all his wisdom from a rash purchase of Encyclopedia's back in the 70's...And companies would by it.............

:) LOL, that's pretty funny stuff.

  2. aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggg!!!!!! Sorry guys, just needed to vent! :) HC3 (housing available), A1U (housing available, though it has long teeth apparently :) ) or wait and see when the housing for the HC7 comes out and if it'll brake my bank....

    Edited by rereynoso
  3. At this stage forget the HC3.

If you need a housing this week, can your budget stretch to an FX1? Now well-proven for u/w use with numerous housing options. But large and no progressive.

If you can wait a bit look at the HC7 which should have at least a couple of housings available imminently. Small and should be within or close to your budget.

And if you can wait a bit longer and pay a bit more then wait until the FX7/V1 housings come out and then compare your options.

Then there's the Canon of course... and the A1... ...and those new JVCs and Panasonics... and someone said Samsung have cracked the low light problem...

  4. Well, broke down and am getting the FX1 with the LandM housing, which blows my budget, so the WA will have to wait until I finish a few more websites. Thanks to all of you for all your advice, it really helped and hope to post some footage on these boards soon.

  6. Ignore him Reuben, he's just jealous. Great choice and welcome to the club! There's been loads of discussion in this forum about the Bluefin which is well worth reading before you get going. First things first, check the tightness of all the screws when you first get it. A couple of mine fell out and others were loose.

  7. Wrong choice in camera and housing..Reuben... :)

Although looking at Wags pic the Fx1 can turn you into a serious nut job..

Good times my friend..Good times, enjoy your new toys.

  8. Yes I just hate the fact I have a 100% full zoom 90 degree port even with the Macro +2 flipped up which also gives me more tighter shots from a distance. :)

Also hate the fact that locked off on full wide I can have focus from the port to infinity under the right conditions. :excl:

Then there's the abilty to do 20 second tape changes in the field because of that big swinging rear door.

Anyhow what ever, they both have good and bad points....just get out there and shoot some stuff.

  9. Isn't the LMI housing 100% vignette free though? :)

  10. Are yes it is but it's 80 degree port it's still behind the (94) 90 degrees and it's not full zoom through.

  11. I've got a fantastic idea...

Everyone who's got diff views on brand housings get together. We all go to a pool bar, line up a shed load of cold beers on various tables. As we have a monster- beerathon our wives and girlfriends strip to their bikini's/undies and wrestle in a vat of jelly (jello)...tearing said items of clothing off.

Who ever wins both contests has the better housings.

We can call it 'Dean's Dream cold Beer and sweet Rear' event 2007.

You are limiting the possibilities too much. Going out to get a couple of kegs right now in case anyone is in the mood for an argument about anything, I will take the position there is only 300 days in a year to start off.

  14. Si,

It was 'that' picture that gave me the inspiration... :)

  15. Pretty happy with the choice, though I blew my whole savings on it...wifey not happy, bu tunderstands that I'll make it up to her after a few "Howard Hall" type gigs :o....hmmm, think there's a market for Garibaldi shots?!? :excl: Anyways, yeah, I read all the reviews and discussions on the board and will double check all screws and seals et al. Thanks again guys and will be posting stuff soon. Off to Catalina Islan to teach a class and start refilling that savings account!

Dean, your humor is extraordinary over developed :)

Thanks for spreading smiles in a cold time, whith far to little diving. B)

  17. hmmm, think there's a market for Garibaldi shots?!?
No but possibly Rich Teas or Chocolate Digestives.

(proof that not all humor here is as developed as you might think)

Ok so you wanna rag on the mods eh Mr I dive at 60m without lights in bad viz? AFAIK, since the digital age really came to life in the 80s, my encyclopedia should actually be in print in 2009. The 70s were more a bell bottom, big hair age, which I'm sure you know a lot about. :excl: Mike buys drinks... but only for good looking women in Yap, not some guy in UK. As for Wags... ok I give you that one. :)

Dean, to counter that misogynistic idea, I propose that we have the owners of the cameras and housings to wear the bikinis. No point getting the ladies involved with the bad decision making on the part of the males. We'd use the HVR-A1 to record the event... and I'd use lights too even at 0m.

    Reuben,

it's a very tough and small market. Good luck with your endeavor.

  20. OOOOOHHHH Get him !!!!

For a start I was child of the 70's not just recieving my bus pass :)

And if you want to see a bunch of hairy arsed blokes in bikinis then..Thats your bag brother..Sign me up.

    As for the A1...Erm, well, its....Mine <_<
