  4. Looks like the LCD screens will start to ship in the next few days.

    Has anyone ordered one yet?

16:9 High Definition 4.3†Color LCD monitor

No but I'm thinking of going over the the Long Beach(CA) Scuba Show next month to look at one. I'm finding it hard to get past the price though, it's more than my EVO cost. Otoh, I wouldn't be happy with their SD monitor.

  5. Have one of the Ampibico 16.9 monitors now.

    Not bad...pics and info soon.

Has a zoom in function like expanded focus thingy to help with focus.

    More Soon.

  6. Quick look.

Here is a couple pics of the 16.9 on our EVO.

  7. Hi Wagsy,

can the monitor show the marker signs and the camera info such as shutter, gain and iris?

    Jules

  8. Hi Jules

    Warming up over there yet?

    Yes and no :)

There is a limitation with some HDV cameras that when one is using component output one cannot get the full camera info on the screen at 1080i :) Just the Rec and tape counter. This is the same thing that happens when I component out to our HD projector.

However if you put the camera's on 576i component output you can get the full display settings.

The monitor is very well made.

Edit: added it does not apply to all HDV camera's

  9. Warmin' up?!!! it is 10.38 a.m.....

Well, using the HD monitor in SD res? I think I have to wait the EX-series Sony, hoping they will fix it. I do not known the V1, but it seems to me that without a rear viewfinder it will be quite tricky to use this monitor in such housings like the new Endeavour... No camera info in HD...

This is the same thing that happens when I component out to our HD projector. Maybe the newer generation HDV cameras will allow this one day though...... so you can blame Sony.

Strange that - their advert says "Camcorder functions displayed on monitor" :)

  11. I suspect the Gates and L&M will be the same if they are component as well.

Anyhow it's going to make shooting a whole lot easier now with it on for us. :)

  12. That looks huge on the little EVO, would make dragging it through a current a pain in the arse !!!!

They are around £1200-1300 here in the UK so they better be worth the wait and price ??? I will probably rent one out and check before I buy one.. What controls have you got on it Wags.. As I remember you had more control on the last monitor than the similar Gates offering.

It seems very unlikely that Amphibico would be offering an expensive "professional" housing for an HDV camcorder with which you would not have any way of seeing the settings :):)

According to Wagsy, in SD mode you can... But it won't satisfy me. The Endeavour can have an SD or an HD rear monitor only (according to their website), no "old-fashioned" real rear vf....

  15. Okay folks

    Update......

It seems you can indeed get 1080i info output to the screen with some of the HDV cameras including the Endeavour :)

Its just the A1 / FX1 and Z1 that I know of so far that don't output the info on the screen in 1080i mode. It's a camera thing.

  16. I can confirm that as I received this from Amphibico:-

Good day,,, unfortunately this is a camera problem with the A1 and Z1 camera only, as we have tested so far as when you put theses camera in that mode, it will not display the camcorder setting to the output,,.-- .For the FX7 and all other recent HDV camera , as we have tested so far, the information will be display,,

Just as well as my Endeavour is on its way across the pond :)

  17. Spot on Roger...Can't wait for the review..

Even though I've resided myself to actually now, not getting one it would be a good 'rental' option for the future..

That is promising. I would wonder however, whether with a firmware upgrade to our "old" Z1 could be improved to show this infos via component out (without marker signs you can, just together is impossible).

Did you ordered the built-in HD monitor, or the housing and the external monitor?

  19. Jules,

The Endeavour only comes with a built in monitor - I went the whole hog and ordered the HD version. I have it on order through the UK distributor for Amphibico.

    Dean,

I'm booked in for a liveaboard to the Southern Egyptian Red Sea (St John's etc.) at the end of September. It is a photographer's trip largely made up from a local u/w photography club - although mainly "still" guys and girls. This will be the first opportunity for a full test of the FX7/Endeavour - can't wait. I will sort out a report when I get back.
