  1. Roger congrats on your new setup, make sure you post some pics when you get it. :)

Here is some more info about having the camcorder functions displayed on monitor in 1080i mode with different camera models..

Cameras that DO provide the camera info

    FX7 / V1

    UX1

    SR1

    HC3

    HC7 *

    * Although the HC7 provides a HD signal out to the monitor, the 90º

component cable is pointing down once connected to the camera making it

impossible to push the camera inside the housing.

Cameras that DO NOT provide the camera info

    FX1 / Z1

    HC1 / A1

    Note:

The user is still able to record in HD (1080i) quality and get all of the

camera's info. The trick is to set the component output on the camera to

480i instead of 1080i/480i. That is a drop in quality to the

monitor but this a decision the user has to make in order to receive the

    camera's info.

  2. Good day,,, unfortunately this is a camera problem with the A1 and Z1 camera only, as we have tested so far as when you put theses camera in that mode, it will not display the camcorder setting to the output,,.-- .For the FX7 and all other recent HDV camera , as we have tested so far, the information will be display,,

Poo. Presumably if it's a camera issue then this would also apply to the Gates monitor and the forthcoming L&M 16:9 monitor? I hope there's a geek somewhere working on a Z1 firmware hack.

  3. Nick I would think it could be done with a firmware update no probs.

Have a Google around the place, someone may have already done it.

Anyhow least we have a viewfinder to check the settings before we shoot.

The res on the LCD is just like the one on the Z1/FX1 camera's LCD.

It make life very easy to shoot now with these small housings. :)

Here's a pic with it on the EVO. Picture taken with the little Olympus 770 SW at 6 meters.

  4. Looks good. Should make framing the subject easy.

I have a monitor coming with my new housing along w/ a top handle. I'm expecting to get a lot more shots at better angles since I won't be as limited with positioning. Shooting with the viewfinder made a lot of shots impossible because I couldn't look through the viewfinder w/o destroying the reef.

  5. It sure will Ron :)

You can spin the screen around and forward and back no problems plus it has a digital zoom (expanded focus thingy) so you can make sure you are spot on with your focus.

Make sure you put good 2000+ mAH rechargeable batteries in it for long running times other wise it will cost lots buying batteries all the time for it.

  6. Wags what do each of those 4 buttons along the bottom do?

Bottom right is just a power LED, right?

And is the connector the same as Gates?

  7. I think someone mentioned they use the same LCD.

Kind of strange Amphibico uses 4 AA batteries and the Gates 8. Also Gates recommends alkaline and Amphibico rechargeable NIMH. The buoyancy specs they list are weird too given the extra batteries in the Gates. Amphibico says negative 300 grams and Gates says neutral.

  8. Ron

Buoyancy will depend abit on what type of batteries ones uses.

I have a underwater torch, some bats will make it float while some will make it sink :)

Nick I will have a review up soon but yes that is a power indicator Led plus zoom in/out indicator.

One thing I really like is that you get the full 100% pixel view so you see exactly what the camera is seeing 100%....no over scan....

It sounds like these monitors are selling really well.

  9. Hey I'm on TV

Got it wired up onto the Phenom now.

Now I'm really confused, do I look through the Monitor or LCD or Viewfinder. :)
