  1. Mr Shaw, I know what you mean there has been a few times I've spoke my mind after a few :) and people have taken me the wrong way.. (Insert jokes) I call it the lager syndrome...

Wags, I can see what you mean but light hearted does not translate across the oceans. Your Idea of Oz tastic 'Crikey mate' programme structure might not come across to the serious thinking broadcast community. Same way my U.K sarcastic humour hits people the wrong way on these threads. If your going to do this properly we need feed back on what sells and what is educational worldwide..Without becoming to condescending... I totally agree on the instructional and narrative comments. Just great shots with music is good if your looking at back ground meditation stuff. I personally prefere to know whats going on in the filmmakers mind and what the story is... Story, story, story...

Everybody on here is going to have a idea into what they think is right and how we should run things..and a few of us are going to have their noses put out of joint. But at the start we are going to need the WOW factor to hit viewers with a big right hook.

But I do agree with diversity in progamming as long as its good viewing.

  2. Great topic. It overlaps with the "Now is it time to go HDV" thread. I would like to hear more about formats because I haven't yet gone HDV. But, unless I am adopted by a Hedge Fund Manager or Angelina, I won't be spending $10-30K on video gear anytime soon.

Wetpixel TV is a great idea. It could take full advantage of the internet; members could contact other members about teaming up for footage; e.g. one of us that lives near the Humpback whale's summer feeding areas teams up with a member that lives near the Humpback's winter calving grounds to create a film that includes both. Both members see if they can market it in their locale. Local cable here in the u.s. is hungry for programming, but I don't know what they pay. Maybe this is the start of a different forum topic tho.

  3. I've posted a new thread on the main gallery 'general chat' to see what our wider community thinks..

Lets have fun and maybe run with it...

  4. Good luck with that one Dean, hope the plans pan out.

What I will say as a final bow, I feel this thread has run its course, we've all said our piece. Long live our pieces!! :)

Guys, get out there and network aggressively. By that I don't mean run next door, twat your neighbor on the nose and shout "I'm a video nutter, I am" I mean take the opportunity whenever possible to get your name 'out there'. Look on the web these days. MySpace, free web site potential for clips, posty, posty here's me reely! Same with YouTube I guess, maybe not. There are other similar sites to MySpace that allow you to create a free damn web site. Get it put together and use that as your main site. Saves thousands of dollars and if you put it together right can do just the same job, carry the same message and get you the same work.

Join sites like this, have you seen the true potential of what membership to a resource such as Wepixel can give you? Its massive.

I also always use the same 'handle' or user name, CamDiver. The reason being I believe that people here have the same kinda interests as me. That being as either a co-member or someone just passing through. If that person then belongs to one of the many different forums I belong to they will see my name again, and again, and again, and again........I belong to a lot of Forums! If someone keeps seeing the same name pop up all over the place what wil they think? "Hey this guy's everywhere, best check his work out". Now what if that person is a 'decision maker' in any given type of media related company? You may just win over another fan, another potential gig and some well earned cash. Always a good thing eh?

Anyway I've rattled on enough. I'm gonna be away for a while. Got some serious stuff on at the mo......will let you all know about it in about a month from now.

    Cheers,

    Mark.
