Tropical1, handholding critical focus will be the major issue. But you can move the zoom frame around so composition wouldn't be the problem. But doing all that handheld with a 100-150mm macro u/w is another thing

Just a quick update. My initial comments on live view implementation on the 40D was based on using it with an IS lenses. Last nite, I slapped the 100mm macro USM lens on which doesn't have IS and manually focusing/ hand held using the zoom feature was an act in frustration...
