Possibly i'm a bit drunk still, but i feel a little bad for Dan and i would welcome him back as long as he behaves.

Certainly made me read the raw (and uninformed) enthusiasm in some of my first posts, having the audacity to give someone else 'advice' because they were ready to jump to dSLR and I'd just bought my first, and cringe at what 'could have been' if I didn't tone it down and listen. It's easy to see how one could be motivated to defend everything they've ever said vs. taking a step back. I'm sure the long-timers here see that cycle time and time again from new members.

Sorry to say though, that I agree with Eric 100%. As one of the 'noobs' still searching in the dark sans flashlight or glasses, some of his posts in various threads did screw with my head. I ignored most of the MF stuff as it's so far out of my realm it didn't matter, but otherwise you just couldn't ignore the seagull droppings over every single thread....

Dan Schwartz came back rather obviously as another user, "Charlie_Matco" (a known pseudo-name), before his suspension time was up. Although "Charlie" has been better behaved than Dan so far, I have no patience for deceipt, and so Dan, Charlie, and their matching ip address have been banned.

Can't believe that was a year and a half ago, seems ilike yesterday, but it was long ago. But it is good to see you and Dan can still communicate nicely now the original incident is over

The Internet is a funny old place and forums funnier still. I often have run-ins on one British site (the British diving trade love it and I now have a sub-following of fans who ask me when I'm going to wind them up again). The strange thing is that I meet a lot of divers and often spend time cramped together with them on liveaboards. I've never met any of my antagonists, only fans of my wind-ups. Is it because the really angry people are angry because they never get to go diving? Forums area good place to imbibe information (eg: thanks Alex for making me buy the Tokina 10-17 when it first arrived) but none of us should take what we read or ourselves too seriously...and who is this echeng anyway? Is he some kind of e-person?
