XDCAM EX format not accepted by BBC as HD

  1. Here is the guidelines for BBC HD: Summary of Delivery Formats. This is for HD programs, which can contain up to 25% SD. The EX1 footage is considered SD by their standards, but you could probably bump up the video into another codec and they would never know anyway.

    BTW. Some of my FX1 HDV stock footage is currently playing on NGCHD National Geographic Explorer: "Shark Superhighway".

    Excellent! My old HC1 is gone and out of production, Canon has replaced my HV20 with the HV30, Sony has discontinued my HC7 and replaced it with an HC9, the FX7 which I really wanted to buy is gone, but that FX1 keeps staying around. I like looking at it whenever I'm in a Sony Style store.

  2. Nice find Dan. That's pretty conclusive. Looks like all you F900 owners out there shooting 24p or 30fps are out of luck too.

    They wouldn't notice if we sneaked just a little bit of up-rezzed 3gp in there would they?

    I know! Let's start our own channel!

    TOP!! :blush::wacko:

  4. I think EVERYONE should note that the OP referred to XDCAM EX being not accepted as a main (unrestricted) capture format and is (for now) considered an SD format like HDV and most other 1/3" sensor HD cameras.

    Any format is eligible for being included in a program under the 15 - 25% rule of various broadcasters. Let's keep that in mind as not to confuse the topic.

  5. And also this relates to just HD programs... Which is still in its infancy... Not 'All' mainstream productions.. We can still downvert... unless I'm mistaken..
