I have the same setup as Crawdad, the A570is with Canon housing and Inon strobes. The 165ADFE is ok but don't expect too much from the edges and corners. But if SLRs still suffer from soft corners, what hope is there that a P&S will have nice corners.
As James says... set focus to 5-6 ft in front for wide shots and the DOF will take care of most everything.
I've also posted a few pics in a 570IS thread a few months back to show the soft corners.
I primarily use mine for recording video scenes.

I think the "soft" corners are as mcuh a function of a particular camera as they are the lens. Even slr lenses of this type --wide angle and full frame fisheye-- show some drop off in the corners. Afterall, your taking in a swath over 160 degrees wide with a universal fit lens that is not optimized to a particular brand of camera so give it a break---nothing in the price range does as well.
Again, I have noticed more corner softness with the 570 that with the Oly. This is because the distance from the camera lens surface is a bit to far with the 570IS in the DC12 housing. If it were about 1/16 less the soft corners would be improved as would the tendency to vignette at f2.6.
When and if I machine a new port for a yet to be purchased Ike housing I will reduce that lens gap.
