  1. Hi fellow wetpixelers,

I have just finished a re-vamp of my website and would like you guys to take a look if you have some time and offer any advice. You don't have to be nice. Sadly it is not all about diving, as i have only been on 2 diving trips so far, but I am hoping to get some more time underwater when the weather improves in the UK,(It is just too windy at the mo - 0 viz :) ) Oh yeah, i need to work on my WB / post processing on the wreck shots :bye: I haven't had time to really do them justice yet.

    Thanks for looking

  2. The site looks great! Really enjoyed it all. Your underwater photos look great too.

  3. Awesome site Tristan! I like the simple effective approach. I only found one broken link. When viewing the wedding pics if I click on your top level home page link "Tristan Jones etc." I get the dreaded file not found. message. It works on all the other photo pages.

I really enjoyed the golf and landscape stuff. Nicely done sir. I questioned only a couple of the U/W shots. I don't think they quite stack up to the level of the rest of your images. I understand the pressure to put up something but I think you might want to take another hard look and think about culling a couple. Or better yet go diving and get a better shot to replace them. :bye: Wonderful stuff for only two trips.

    FWIW,

    Steve

  4. Hey Tristan,

Love the look of your site - it really reflects the diversity of your photography.

You really have been giving that kit a workout - look forward to see more of your underwater images.

  5. Great page Tristan!! Love the wreck shots!

Keep up the good work! :bye:

  8. Very nice, slick and professional. A couple of the images in the blogspot don't enlarge when you click on them, all the others do.

    Thanks for the feedback.

404!!!!! :) thanks for the heads up, I think that is sorted now. Which photos did you question, as I will remove them and get something different in there.

I'm always open to suggestions. I know my U/W stuff sucks at the moment but I am doing my best to get on another trip to Egypt, but I seem to be fighting against the other half's schedule. :) Se always seems to have to do this thing called work!

And there was some pressure to get the site up as my old one was terrible and I had a couple of potential clients wanting to see some work.... ') Fortunately it worked for them.

Thanks Peter, not as much of a workout as I would have liked.... :bye: Using it every day would be nice.

Appreciate your comments, and thanks once again for the help and service that Scubapix provided.

Thanks, I will look into that. The day before yesterday was my first foray into blogging so it is all pretty new to me and I am learning.

  13. Looking very good Tristan. I am with Steve in that a few of the UW shots are not too the standard of the rest of the images. Having said that they are good, just not as good as all the other images you have. The lightening at the IOW is really good as are the SOH.

Where have you been lately, I havent seen you on here ?

When are you next out to Egypt, my place will be ready for a trip for you two join us next year if you are up for it. We are out to Sharm to get it furnished in september and squeezing a trip on the Typhoon whilst we are there.

    Be good, keep snapping

Hi Stew, I have been to Spain, Turkey and Egypt in the last month so not much time at home. I am hopefully going to egypt in the next week or 2 for a month to do my DM (& get some u/w photography done as well) I am at about 45 dives now so would like to get to the 100 mark soon, if I am doing a month of DM training I should get a few under my belt + if I get any days off I am in the right place for a paddle with the camera.

I'll take you up on the House offer :bye:.

Hi Scott, thanks for the feedback. I used Dreamweaver to design the site and simpleviewer from www.airtightinteractive.com for the galleries. Hope that this helps. I also had a professional web developer make sure that it all fitted together properly and make sure all the CSS etc worked. I did a short course on beginner dreamweaver years ago and haven't used it since so this was a bit of a refresher course for me.

    Tristan,

Your U/W stuff definitely doesn't suck, and I'm glad that your customers liked what they saw. I'm uncomfortable having you remove images based on what I say. They are your shots and your vision. So take my comments with a grain of salt. The second image with the fish and the coral is not a strong image IMHO. Cool fish, but could be improved by getting closer and a different composition. I'm struggling under the opinion that when you but up a website for customers to review, they should see your absolute best work. Fewer is probably better. If the intent is for a photo sharing site then it's a whole other thing.

    Cheers,

    Steve

Why are you doing a DM? Are you going to pack in your photography, leave the lovely South of England and become a dive guide in the tropics? :bye:

  20. Really beautiful shots in there and I liked the design - simple (in a good way, too many sites go bonkers throwing the kitchen sink into things), looks great and loads quickly with intutive interface.

The only thing is that you may want to change the heading for golf & sports on the bottom to just golf until there are other shots in there? The only reason I even mention this is that were that your other shots were really so stunning (again beautiful shots in there) and when I went into the sports section since I am a baseball, basketball, football (the real football and not that soccer stuff :bye: ) junkie it was golf shots (again stunning shots).

I do not think it will turn anyone off by just having golf shots in there even with the current title, and it is pretty obvious you would nail the other sports if someone was looking for a sports photographer, but more something to consider(?)
