  1. Gotta disagree there Mike i think it looks ugly... Bit of a monstrosity... It will be very heavy as well... I think the Gates EX1 housing looks much sleeker...

We will have to wait for a certain 'Oz shooter' to do a complete turn around and get one and say its the best thing since 'sliced bread'... :)

You don't have to look so far, cross the oceans... Maybe some land-landers will open the turtle box very soon :P

Good luck with that Jules :)

Away from the aesthetic views of the housing... If t does the job then that is all that matters... Well apart from the weight/ portability of the beast... I imagine some large excess baggage charges will be involved... ;) I wouldn't contemplate such a beastie for anything but paid work... Its defo not a 'holiday shooters' piece of kit...

  3. Got to play with the Amphibicam X3 today in the pool with JC and Tom Campbell. It's really impressive, handles very well as would be expected - but still has some finishing touches before it goes public. I'll post some pics and a short review when I'm back in Hawaii in a day or two. But, for those interested, I think you'll be very happy.

  4. Can't wait to hear further details. Tom is a consummate professional and has been on the forefront of the Amphibicam line since it's inception. I trust Tom's judgement on professional use and look forward to his opinion on the X3 Amphibicam.

  6. I have a Sony Ex3 with an Amphibicam EX3 housing and currently using the 16x9 wide angle converter with the special port and was wondering if anyone could tell me the specs they use on their camera for underwater shooting, in tropical good visibility conditions so I can use those settings as a good starting point to tweak them to my liking.

    Thank you very much,

  7. Have to find out if it comes with flip arms for a URPRO filter etc.

I had a look at the housing (I live in Montreal) and there isn't a flip arm and no room for that. I think it is a bit annoying.

JC told me it wasn't necessary, that there isn't one in the Amphibicam and they consider the EX3 housing a pro housing just like the Amphibicam so a URPRO filter is not needed ???

I own a EX3. I am tempted but I will wait for more trial reports, how the camera white balance in water...unless JC lend me one AmphibicamX3 for our next Bahamian Great hammerhead expedition?
