  1. Hi Pam, thanks for the feedback, glad you are enjoying the show  haha, yes, the D90 is a great camera, it may not be the latest or greatest but it can take the same photos as any other camera and with enough quality for commercial use as well.

For the hand thing. Basically, i take the left strobe off the camera and hold it by the front with my fingers covering the element and some gaps between my fingers. It takes a lot of adjusting and obviously a subject such as a nudibranch that doesn't move much as it takes a few photos to get the positioning correct. The reasoning for me doing it is the fact that YS120 strobes only have half and full power, no other settings, sometimes i have to do that if i am trying to shoot with open fstops. However, i also do it to create different lighting like that last nudi ;)

    Tongue Parasite

Always freaky yet quite fascinating. Not a great pic but it shows the parasite quite well, always gives me the shivers. The vast majority of Anemonefish in Lembeh and indeed north Sulawesi have these parasites.

Having a life for a few days, then posting a Drunk Catfish photo? You know you are not supposed to feed marine life and going bar hopping with them on the days you are remiss posting the POTD is also probably a no-no :D

Good stuff Mike, looking forward to seeing more shots of the day....

  11. That moray shot is very cool Mike.

Mike - Thanks for the info. Going to Bonaire in a few weeks - will try playing with the strobe to see what kind of effects I can create with it. Keep up the show from Lembeh.

  18. I love this thread, Mike! Great to see the pics and more importantly the settings and techniques you've used to create the effects. Thanks for the inspiration!

  19. Thanks for the post. I just love "sweepers in caves" shots. Not certain why.. just lov'em.

  20. I really like the perspective of Beauty and the Beast, much nice than the flat images people take of these with the 60mm.
