Yes. Many people do that to start esp for macro... U use the strobe as main then use the video light to cover the shadow casted. Not sure what the lumens u have on the video light. Its best if u can change the brightness of the video light.
However, soon u will see the difference between the strobe and light.
Especially useful the video light have when on night dive.
