IS IT WORTH IT? GH5s - No Stabilization

  1. Congrats on your purchase, gearbow.

I‘d go for lights first, then monitor.

  2. Definitely get the best lights you can afford before a monitor.

  3. Yeah. In general, you want to get the things that allow you to shoot what you couldn't otherwise film first, and things that don't really give you any new capabilities (but do allow you to do what you were doing before easier) second.

I think the monitor is a lot more essential for macro than for wide-angle shots. And the lights vice-versa. So decide what you're more interested in filming first. For the type of high-magnification macro that would benefit them most from a monitor, you'll also what a tripod of some sort.

  4. Hey guys I finally did it after many years mulling over the options, I am a Proud new owner of a GH5 in the Nauticam housing.

    Good choice.

The GH5 is definitely the better choice for underwater than the GH5s

Having both, I always reach for the GH5 - it’s just more complete.

As to lights / monitor. As I and others have suggested - get Lights.

Depending on budget. Go bright. With tech these days, there is little point looking at less than 7500lm and CRI90. IMHO

  6. Out of curiosity, what made you choose the Oly Pro over the Pany 7-14?

I don't know I read somewhere that the f2.8 through the whole focal distance is good for video?? I see now it's kind of a pain in the butt. I have to use a port adaptor and a glass port.
