I think most folks have probably tried that Dave - as a rule, I've found that most people that try underwater photography are smart enough to have figured that one out.
But it's a half-measure. Most dive guides grab the housing by the arms and since they are designed to flex, they move around when the helper picks it up or carries it.
This is a design problem that needs fixing - other brands of housing don't have this same problem. I'm glad to see that Ikelite has recognized this and has designed a mechanical fix.
