I understand that Aquatica dealers have it but since I don't have any one of them in my area I need to do order it myself. Any ideas where?
Recommendations on good/poor products will be also appreciated.

Hi,
Check out the LEEK detector sold by Wetpixel sponsor Marine Camera Distributors (at right). I also did a short review of the detector, which can be found in the reviews section here.
Cheers

Hi,
Check out the Universal Moisture detector sold by Wetpixel sponsor Aquatica (at right). This detector can be set up in ajust about any housing with its self adhesive lining. It is small and very compact. Check out their site for dealers close to you.

I bought the Aquatica moisture alarm from B&H for around $70 + shipping. It comes with installation and operating instructions and a battery. Quick, easy, painless... as long as you don't have to ask B&H any complicated questions.
Tn'x for the info.
I'll probably order the LEEK detector from Marine Camera since its cost 1/4 then the Aquatica product unless someone have an idea if the Aquatica is so superior that is worth so much money.
An audible alarm is REALLY nice to have. The LEEK detector is visual only.
Cheers
James
Aquaticas alarms are also visual only. For years they where both audio and visual but changes in the last few years have made them only visual alarms.

Another questions:
- Does thus detectors detect humidity or actual water?
- Why Aquatica stop the audio alarm? its seems very useful.
I have a leak detector from Marine Camera Distributors
Is only optical but its work fine. But my sensor has one light and 2 Sensors??!!
Is there any need for the second sensor and how you hold the sensors and light in place inside the housing?
Double faced tape or velcro, silicone (very thinly) for the diode and probe (not the terminals leads, they need to be exposed).
Another questions:- Does thus detectors detect humidity or actual water?
They usually only detect actual water. The water is what closes the circuit to make the light or sound go off. They're definately housing-life-savers ![]()

Use a very small bead of bathroom silicone sealer, the one you can peel off, your installation looks good, but your terminal (probe) should be flat on the bottom or as close as can be, the way your's is set-up, the water level would be really uncomfortable when it reach the probe sensor. ![]()
Whatever you do, never, I repeat never use crazy glue
, epoxy or contact cement on your acrylic window. ![]()
cheers
Thanks Jean
By terminal (probe) you mean the second (on the Right) detector?
Its sad that the electric wire that goes to the LED is not longer.
Nexus have a small window on the top off the housing (above the viewfinder) It would be e exelend place to place the Led.
Thanks again my Friend...
Lambis
P.S. What happen with the new D2X aquatica housing??
Hi Lambis,
It's long enough - there's no reason why the battery and electronic block needs to be on the bottom of the housing. In fact, it shouldn't! All that needs to be on the bottom is the small electrode which contains the two contacts.
Cheers
James
Thanks James
The battery have to some electrodes. What is the need off them?
Is it of double Security? You say that the Battery must be in a place protected from Water so that if you have a minnor leak you still can use again the Leak detector?

Hi Lambis, the battery should be protected because if there is a leak and the water reaches the battery first, the warning light will not work when water reaches the sensor and you will never know there is a leak.
Luiz
If the wire are too short, too long or whatever, a simple soldering iron is all you need, you want that LED where you will notice it and the electronic out of harms way and have easy access to the battery, (always carry a spare battery, not much use with a dead battery
),
I dont think Jean that you cane replace the Marine Camera Distributors leak detector battery but maybe I am wrong.
I think that the best is to protect the Battery with some Silicon.
