August 20, 20241 yr I discovered this site through Wetpixel when it seemed the activity had diminished substantially on the other pixel site. However the community is a good one with diverse and helpful opinions. I was recently diving again with friends in Thailand and one friend is a Brit I met 10-15 years ago while he was working as an instructor and photo pro in the Philippines, said this was an active site with many forums. He had good things to say about Waterpixels, so here I am. I've been diving since I was 10, over 40 years. Currently just over 8400 dives. It started one day when the fire station said they could no longer fill my tank unless I got certified. I went from YMCA to CMAS to NAUI to PADI to IANTD to TDI to SSI and many others over the years. I started photographing underwater in the early 80's with a Hanimex, to a Motormarine, to the Nikonos 3, to the Nikonos 5, to the Nikonos RS, and to housings by Tussey, to Nexus Athis, to several Subal, Sea and Sea, Gates, Seacam and lately mostly Nauticam housings. There were others but not for long. I still prefer a housed lens and ports for macro and wide. I am not a fan of the new high quality wet lenses compared to the old school method. I like the results but I am what I am. Anyway that's me. Edited August 20, 20241 yr by dmanfish
August 20, 20241 yr Author If anyone can explain why an under/over shooter like me would switch to the Nauticam WACP or WWL lenses do tell. Thank you.
August 20, 20241 yr Author Also, my reason for staying with the Nauticam w/Fisheye and macro ports for my 15mm, 16-35 and macro Sony 90 and Canon 100L lenses are because I travel alot while diving. For example from July 1, 2024 - Aug 7, 2024 I went from the USA to Bangkok to Koh Chang to Koh Tao to Koh Samui to Bangkok to Bohol,Phils to Bangkok to Siem Reap, Cambodia to Hochi Minh City, Vietnam to Thailand to the US. Big and heavy systems are heavy and expensive to schlep all over.
